EVE Rat Race, anyone?

I want to test the waters of the EVE community with a proposition. A fun event staged for all EVE players of any skill/experience level.

An EVE Rat Race.

The idea behind the event is a relatively simple one. An A to B race across the EVE universe. The first person to complete the race is declared the winner. I'm personally willing to pay out 1,000,000,000 ISK to whoever the winner is.

Any ship, using any fitting is fair game, (yes, even the Leopard).

Q: How will you determine who is at the start line?

A: There will be a particular item, unannounced, that will be able to be acquired at the start point station.

Q: How will you determine who finishes the race first?

A: There will be one open contract for that one particular item at the finish line station. That contract will not be created, nor will the station be announced until shortly before the race begins.

So there you have it. Any ship with any fittings piloted by any person at any skill level can try to make their way across the EVE Universe as fast as possible to be declared the winner.

Oh, and one more thing--the race route will most definitely include null sec locations, so there will be gate camps and PVP action for those out to ruin the chances of some of the racers winning. That'll all be part of the fun!

What do you guys think? Sound fun?


The main problem that I see with this idea is having an item that is obscure enough and cheap enough for me to buy and have up for sale at a particular station. Thats why, if enough players are interested in the idea, I'd like to petition CCP to directly sanction the event. Maybe an event item could be used?

i think it's prety cool event but don't cross only ls Smile

ls is too easy to cross like no ship only in pod lol

we must cross null for finding somme bubble and gank too cross Twisted

What about a no jump bridge rule? You have to only use stargates?

People will buy the entire stock of this one particular item that is available in a station in the start system. Game over for everybody else :-(

We had a similar race a while ago (called Death Race) and that was exactly what happend that time. So you need some strategy to prevent this, e.g. tons of cargo containers in space with one item in each.

Check out the New Eden Cannon Ball Run 2014,

The New Eden Cannon ball run is an event that has been thought through and will have some challenges for you pilots to show off your piloting skills there are limits to ship types, interceptors and below yes you may use a leopard however there are null sec checkpoints which may cause you some difficulty if a bubble were to arise. We already have people super excited to officiate the event and I am currently talking with CCP Falcon to get this event broadcasted over EVE TV.
