WTF is this BS with the drone avionics skill CCP?

Hmm odd i hear alot of people in the help channel complain today...

Seems like many people *lost* skills from 4 to 3.. or 3 to 2.. strangely no one has any extra SP.

Not all that strange. Chances are that a lot of people did the standard trick in preparation for Kronos: stop all training of CDO and push SDO as high as possible to get the most SP for the least amount of training. This should have left a lot of people with much lower CDO levels than SDO levels on patch day.

Now, the script has most likely (and very naïvely) just checked your old CDO level and whether or not you've trained DAv at all since then. If you haven't, DAv has been set to your old CDO value, and they've forgotten to check (or accidentally coded out) the part where they account for the fact that you can have higher DAv without having trained it in the meantime. The fallback case of “lower CDO, higher DAv, but haven't actually trained DAv, so do nothing” has probably gone missing or malformed or incorrectly terminated, so lots of the wrong people end up in the “DAv = CDO, no refund” category.

In fact, I'm most likely in the affected group as well… of sorts… but since I had CDO V and SDO V, I've ended up with DAv V regardless of how it's been calculated.

I seriously don't understand how they run a script like this against the production database skill tables without some sort of testing. I would be fired from my job if I did things like this.

Just wanna say that some of my drone skills have reduced in level also, would not have noticed for a while yet on my alts as it was only from reading this thread that I thought to check.

Completely missed this change. But very true, a lot of my characters have had drone avionics reduced to III. They had scout drone operation before the patch to V, although did not have combat drones operation to V. The characters which did have CDO to V still have Drone avionics to V.

I have got to say, this entire drone skill transition has been a complete shambles from day one. I've been following the amount of u turns which CCP Fozzie and Rise have done since the beginning. Not impressive at all.

The drone link augmentor issue was pointed out by myself and others multiple times ad nauseam, in GD, and the respective feedback thread. We all had assumed their was no reply to this issue as modules do not come under the "if you could fly it before you can fly it after" mantra.

Now this means that players who had their drone control range at +25km before the kronos release, have now had it taken away and reduced to 15km. What a complete and utter shambles.

I also lost Drone Avionics 5. My total SP has dropped and I do not have a point balance to spend. This was verified in game.

I decided to log on to my other 3 chars. All chars had CDO 3 or 4 (can't remember) before the patch, but none had 5. Right now, 2 characters show the GM Skill Gift lvl 3 but still have Drone Avionics 5, and 2 characters show the GM Skill Gift lvl 3 and have Drone Avionics 3.

So the script not only was derped, but didn't derp equally on all accounts.

Exit the game and clear your cache from the launcher. Skill values seems to be cached because mine showed 5 until I cleared the cache.

Good you reported it, but there is no reason to freak out. From the patchnotes is so clearly an unintentional side effect, that I a not worried (lost 5->3). It will be fixed tomorrow or in a few days the latest.

I checked all my characters. They all still have the skill. I dont think CCP removed any skillpoints that were trained. I get the impression that the gift of lvl5 was changed to a gift of lvl4. Which is still free SP. Which I never had concerning that skill.

Yeah I have no doubt that it will be fixed, eventually. But until then it is not giving us the benefits that we spent time (and thereby money) to train.

Confirming all of my alts are showing random levels of skill in evemon for DA. Some are on 3, 4 or 5. Sent a petition. Not impressive at all, considering this issue was pointed out ad nauseum by members of the community.

Yeah, the way I initially read the patch notes it sounded to me like it was an intentional change (it's early in the morning here, can't read yet lol)

After clearing cache, the game client says I have drone avionics 5 - as I expect - but applications using the API say I have drone avionics 4.


It doesn't inspire confidence.

Confirmed issues here... 2 accounts show Drone Avionics 5 but I can no longer use a Drone Link augmentor II now Roll

1 account was lvl 5 Drone Avionics and now it was rolled back to lvl 3. shows GM gift lol ... Thanks for the gift !

Dang this expansion seems riddled with math errors.
