Death by [Open Container]

Well Crucible has changed the [Open Container] function. Before, you could open and loot while in flight, or a passing can from a Noctis, or during a mission.

Now, your ship changes course to the can by slowing down for the turn, and stopping at said can.

Death by [Open Container]

Not sure I like it. Thoughts?

If that's true combat looting in pvp is out of the window for the faster ships :(

Yeah, I more or less despise the way the buttons work now.

I can't steal from alliance wrecks. When in a mission I turn red to people in my alliance when looting their wrecks. That's the scary thing.

I'm in a noctis as well. The flying to cans isn't so bad. Do they actually stop you if the can is in range? Thats why I have a tractor beam on it while I salvage and loot it while travelling to the next gate. I assume that's when the problem happens?

Besides you shouldn't have a noctis in the same area as the fighting. I usually keep it out of the area until all the npcs have been killed or if its one of the missions that they just keep attacking the same target. I don't see why the noctis should be at risk.

It only changes your direction if you're too far to actually open the container. Time it right <2500m and you just open it and loot as usual.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I dislike it just because it causes my noctis to change course while I'm tractoring wrecks in and burning at distant out of range wrecks. It was an unneeded change and should be rolled back or given an on/off switch. If we need to approach a wreck or can before looting it we're perfectly capable of hitting approach or keep at range on the target.

Additionally it is possible due to server latency, to open a container and loot it while being tractored towards you at a range of around 5000m. Prior to this change the container would open because by the time the range updates on the screen it's within looting range. Now if the container is beyond the maximum range, your ship will auto course correct towards the target even though it still opens just like it did before.

Or you can stick to pvp and leave the space trash.

I like it.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but is handy.

FYI - I run a Noctis, and when not -- loot in combat as well.

As mentioned, it only changes your heading if you are greater than 2500m away, where prior it wouldn't open and not enable the button. Pay attention to ranges and you can fly like you always did.

Its not hard, just different. I bet if you get used to it and they take it out next patch, you'd miss it.
