So... i've heard the arguments about it being to expensive to create avatars that could wear whatever was in store... i.e. wearing a the fairly simple mens dress shirt, that looks like a uniform shirt, rather than the crop top that passes for the female version...

oh and by the way if you truly wanted not to be so sexist CCP all you need to do is design clothes for the female avatars that offered choice which would include less sexualised option, you know, like a uniform shirt that would be recognised in any military setting on the face of the planet...

but i'm really posting here to say... that if we are going to be able to wander around outside our ships (which we can do in the capt's quarters and much more hopefully in the future) and you do want it to be an immersive rpg experience then maybe you could bear in mind that this is an rpg spaceships sim and your not trying to sell spaceships using the usual 'car' sales tactics using scantilly clad slim female models draped all over them...

this is not just a woman's gripe... i've had plenty of chats with guys in this game and others, and theres evidence from various surveys that everyone... all gamers... given the choice want... choice... want to be able to customise and dress their avatars as uniquely as possible and quite a lot of guys who play using female avatars dont want to make them into barbie dolls...

so spare a thought for choice... find a way to build in from the start... and if you can why dont you just stop putting such stereotypical clothing on the market for the female avatars in eve...

give us choice and we'll give you our isk and real life money... it makes business sense... and you know it might just be one of the reasons you dont have as many women gamers playing eve... just saying.. Pirate

Is this the whole "Give female avatars body armor like the guys" thing? Because really that's all that's missing.

When you think about it, the options of clothing between genders is actually extremely similar. Aside from being able to 'crop' a female's top up to show off her belly there's in fact absolutely no female clothes available aside from the calf-length skirts that are in any way more revealing or risque than anything in the male wardrobe.

Both have pants of varying styles, both have military style uniform shirts/jackets (as you mentioned would be nice to have - well there actually is already), both have tank-tops, both have t-shirts, males have bulky overcoats, females get the bulky 'dresses' instead. Maybe it's my lack of sleep, and fact I was about to go get some before I saw this thread, but aside from arms and belly females currently can't show any skin, males can also show off their arms. So honestly I've no idea what you're even talking about. What?

EVE isn't other MMOs, and it barely registers as an RPG, although it can be played that way.

The thing that most distinguishes it from others, though, is that your 'avatar' is an afterthought. In EVE, your true avatar is whatever ship you're undocked in.

So this is a ringing endorsement for ship painting and Erebus microskirts?....

You don't know me, so I forgive you for putting words in my mouth, but in future, read what I wrote, not what I didn't.

I endorse EVE the spaceship game. I don't care what it is after that, or what it has added to it as an afterthought, as long as the spaceship game is the priority for development, as it has always been.

Not caring enough to know you, and seeing you try really hard to enforce the seriousness of internet spaceships in GD, is exactly why I replied to you.

Carry on. Every thread about aesthetics and clothing needs a good bittervet. Corners are made to be grumbled in.

You're mistaking pragmatism for grumbling, and putting words in my mouth. Whether you know me or not, you still put words in my mouth. That doesn't make you clever, that makes you an idiot. And then you had the nerve to abuse me when I'd been nothing but civil. I suggest if you want to see bitter, you take a look in a mirror.

I'm not enforcing anything, I'm pointing out the reality of EVE Online. If you can't handle reality, that's not my problem. But the dev team will not likely risk another Incarna for the fantasies of the Themepark Online crowd.

Why is it that female avatars get to choose which level their 'torpedos' are at, but all the male avatars are stuck at 'Ken doll"?

Seriously... look, im not looking for 'Ron Jeremy hiding a salami' level here.. and I think we would even settle for 'the pool is cold' or 'smuggling grapes' vs the 'ken doll' weve been locked in with.

Guys, stop the cat fighting, this is about fashion.

FASHION.

Might not mean much in GD but where I come from downunder in Wormhole forum most arguments are actually won on the cut of a jib

@ OP - Anyway, yeah. 3/4 of your post seems like a rant about wardrobe inequality and female stereotypes. Looking at the actual wardrobes available to both genders I'd say your concern is 95% baseless.

The remaining part of your post seems to simply call for more fashion options in general, and I along with most would prolly agree completely with that.

Don't get me wrong, I dabble with the in-game avatar from time to time myself. Got Rem a new coat last week. I'm just saying, in this spaceship game, if the spaceships aren't the priority, then all we have is another dressing up game and we might as well be playing Habbo Hotel instead.

Like, looking 80+ years old.

I've yet to see a male avatar look older than 40ish, and a female one look older than 30ish.

Agreed! Some older, geezers wiser looking characters playing seasoned captains would do well in all four factions so we can have characters the likes of Antony Hopkins, Jon Voight, Christopher Plummer, to name just a few interesting faces…

Old is what happens to dirt dwellers.

We are pod pilots at the peak of our abilities. You think that at a time when cloning is common that pilots are not going to jump into prime 20 year old versions of themselves? I know I wouldn't.

Mr Epeen Cool

Bingo. And the cloning tech allows for other modifications as well, like the cyberplants for pod connections.

Well look, if we're going to be using our cloning tech for this kind of stuff I'm throwing my vote in with Unsuccessful. I want a bigger wee-pole.

That and I think the Gallente male models are a bit padded... What a way to be racist....

really? the gallente guys seemed to have roughly the same dimensions as other guys to me. and even if they didn't, the gallente being size queens fits perfectly with the lore

Until someone puts the models side by side in a 3d renderer and compares the meshes in minute detail in a video, I'm not buying it.

I mean, look at what we're all working with here... When dealing with proportions like this the scale in which differences are measured also changes.

Yes, please more choice. I cant even remove the pants with this dress on but I can have a skirt which is half a pixel closer to the knees...
Please stop griping about sexism, they already PG13 the avatards enough, now you want them wearing military outfits? What is the point? Is there anyone out there that that walks around their own house with actual clothes on(CQ is your home)?
Also, why does less clothing = more sexism? Its not like the female avatards are getting paid 75 cents on the dollar.

objectifying women while having the guys look like normal people that don't exist to be sexy is kinda sexist
