I am using the Helion ( Believe that is the name of it ) for scan ship and don't know what to use for salvaging. Thanks...

Noctis

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Assuming your not just looking to salvage your own missions:

Vigil seems to be popular, its fast, has a decent sized cargo hold especially with containers and is not all that intimidating.

It is also real fast to skill into.

The Noctis is great, but if you're on a budget the Catalyst is worthwhile. The 8 high slots can be used for salvaging mods and tractor beams, and it has a 400m3 cargo capacity which can be increased with cargo expanders.

I used a Coercer. It is on par with a Catalyst.

Later I trained my salvager for a Hurricane, as it is the largest cargo and fastest battlecruiser, closely followed by a Harbinger.

Then the Noctis of course (didn't exist when I trained salavger for a battlecruiser).

My salvager still uses a Hurricane for exploration though (salvaging, hacking, analysing, probeing).

OP, do you mean salvaging from the magnetometric sites?

Mag sites contain containers that have to be unlocked either with a salvager or an analyzer module. Radar sites are similar, but use a codebreaker module instead.

Any ship will do, but these sites often do spawn rats...and if you start opening a can and then leave, it will despawn on warpout. So, you need some sort of combat ship with these modules fitted to run the complex in addition to the ability to probe them down.

OP, when salvaging there are 2 options:

1.) Salvaging destroyer, this is a good start and not expensive or skill consuming (as you will get past destroyers on your way to better ships).

2.) Noctis, better and dedicated salvager in EVE. Takes a bit more skills to train (they are more off the usual path for people) and are a bit more expansive, but hey, they salvage like a beast.
