Hi CCP dudes, is there any chance you can run some of these deals like the example below yourself?

I'd much rather give you guys my money directly than have to go through a middle man for a good deal.

It would be awesome to have something like that directly from CCP.

I would cheerfully take Steam out behind the woodshed and put it out of its misery. I'd probably whistle while I did it too.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Why are we penalized for doing business with CCP directly?

This is actually NOT a sale. The subscription prices on Steam are actually more expensive then they are from EVE site. In steam a year's subscription is $10.95 a month (Steam sale - use drop down menu for select subscription)

At the EVE main webpage (eveonline.com - buy EVE now) a year subscription is $8.33/mo, and you don't have to pay for the client, and you don't have to log on through the steam ap.

Resellers sell product for less than list price. News at 11.

You're wrong. Valve failed to edit the prices in the combobox, you need to read the text above it, after selecting the duration.

The advertising fooled me the "50% off subscriptions."

It's a classic case of selling below MSRP while the actual producer of good/service sticks to it's price. They probably value the audience they get because they are available on the other place more than the little bit of extra they would get if you bought from "home". Steam is a pretty damn large audience to advertise to for fishing additionnal sales even if at a lower margin because of the middle man factor.

You weren't fooled. Price at checkout is in fact $65.70 for a 12 month subscription. There is also no way to transfer an existing account to Steam, nor a way to use a Steam-purchased subscription for a standard EVE account.

Per Steam page: Subscriptions & PLEX through the Steam store can only be purchased by users that have purchased the EVE Online Starter Pack via Steam on or after June 4th, 2013.
