I bought the Tornado because it's shiny

I could have bought a lot of other things for 51 mill. A **** load of Large ammo for my Mael, to feed my hungry ACs. Some better shielding modules. A **** fitted Hurricane. I'm a mission runner with absolutely no use for a glass cannon like the Tornado. It will never survive a Level 4 mission, and Large arties in a Level 3 are a little overkill.

But I had 500 mill piling up for a Mach, and I haven't bought anything in a while because of it. And the Tornado is so shiny.

I was tempted to get it. But I considered it a little :

It sucks at lvl 4´s. No drones means frigate webbers/scrammers will destroy it.
It sucks at lvl 3´s. No drones means frigate webbers/scrammers will destroy it.
It sucks at lvl 2´s. No drones means frigate webbers/scrammers will possibly destroy it.
It sucks at lvl 1´s. No drones means frigate webbers/scrammers will possibly destroy it.

In the latter two I said "possibly" because while the ship wont be popped, it will take godly patience flying in a random direction to lose the webbers.

For anything to do with pve it sucks, because BS class ships will out-dps it most of the time as well as out-tank it even on buffer tank.

So that leaves pvp. It sucks for that except in blobs with logi´s because when people see it they will target it first knowing its a glass cannon.

So it is pretty much just a 50 mil hangar decoration :P Shiny yes, but utterly useless for most things except in fleets where it might shine.

Pretty much. Which means I'll end up doing something awful like fitting it with mining lasers, or medium guns and using it for ratting, or something equally tragic. Or maybe I'll just fly it into low and bash a customs office until it's blown out from under me.

I'm tempted to get it for PVP. All the firepower of my Mael, but only a third of the hull cost. It'll be great when called to a PoS bash, or for knocking out customs offices.
And since my corp picked up BPOs for all the tier 3 BCs, I can get BPCs and make them myself.

In PvE, tier 3s are pretty good as glass cannons, teaming up with some other tankier ships. This has been done in BSs for quite some time, and many topics around glass canon / long range DPS BSs have been analyzed.

Guess what: Tier 3s can do that perfectly. All of them have range bonuses and damage bonuses. Can snipe pretty well with long range guns and extremely limited tank, or go with "short" range guns and do great dmg @ close / med ranges and have 3-4 times the tank of the average sniping version, so it's not prohibitive to get aggroed.

Most of them could do solo belt ratting too, tho you have to be careful against scramming frigs, as even a single web might not be enough after they get under your tracking...

They're great second ships for anoms or missions because they can really bring the pain. Other uses:

*gate camp sniper
*fast nano gang roam
*cheaper alpha fleet ship

The definitely have their niche and the damage they put out is insane. Insane enough that I would expect a nerf at some point. Plus the naga is better in almost all respects than the talos as a gunboat, and it's caldari so we all know that can't stand.

The T3 BCs aren't slow. They will tend to not be hit by oncoming fire most of the time, and in a fleet, you'll have others with drones who will feel more obligated to protect their DPS pillar (the BC) from tackle and things with good tracking.

LvL 3's in an oracle are easy... just keep range. Yet to try lvl4's. best ship for chaining belt rats in NULL..

Don't have any on TQ because:

It's overpriced for the hull

I can do a lot better in any bs nano fitted with a much bigger tank, dps, and a little less speed.

Because my T1 BS is cheaper.

Because I like to kill silly people who buy overpriced stufz for the tears they wil drop.

Some times I fly one here'n there on SISI but I'll pick any battleship first over those that pop like popcorn under my 1400's arty mael or my amazing Daredevil Lol
