12-Barge Multi-Boxing Nullsec Miner Doesn't Want to Get Ganked

I was recently participating in a discussion on why Hulks and Covetors do not need a larger ore hold. I stated my opinion that no, the barges with the maximum yield do not need a bigger ore hold as that would go against CCP's stated role for them.

Lo and behold, one of the other folks participating in the discussion contacts me via EvE-mail and proceeds to explain why, when multi-boxing on 12 acounts, the amount of micromanagement involved with Hulks means he's forced to limit himself to lower-yield hulls. I explained to him that CCP doesn't balance ships around the needs of multi-boxers, and that if he as really looking to maximize his mining yield that maybe he should get some friends to help.

This is where things get interesting.

So I have a player who as point-blank admitted to me that he:

1. Flies 12 barges/exhumers in space at a time.
2. Uses a freighter to pick up ore from an MTU and haul it.
3. Is very busy micromanaging his barges.
4. Also has a Rorqual somewhere in system, albeit probably at a POS.

What should I do with this information? Share it, of course, as I did in this post.

Not surprisingly, the pilot in question EvE-mails me again and asks me to remove his name from the post. Apparently, he's worried about becoming a target. Being a polite fellow, I wanted to oblige him, but as someone had already quoted my post, there was nothing I could do. The damage was done.

Well, I'm not one to do something half-way, so since it's already out there, I figured I should share with the appropriate audience. This doesn't belong in some random thread in General Discussion, this belongs here in Crime & Punishment where it will be fully appreciated and...acted upon.

The pilot's name is Malcolm Lionel.

And here is my reply to his request to take his name down:

Malcolm,

Unfortunately, my post has already been quoted. There's nothing I can do to remove the information.

I did, however, take the liberty of sharing the information on the Crime & Punishment forums. I'm sure one of the villans there will look you and your mining operation up soon enough.

In the future, I would exercise a great deal more caution about who you share details of your mining operation with. Information is power, and you never know how that power will be used.

Happy mining, and keep a sharp eye on local. ;^)

My current schedule doesn't afford me the time to do proper justice to said violence (impending wedding is murder on in-game time). So instead of half-assing it or waiting a month, I figured I'd share this opportunity with C&P in case anyone here wanted to violence him instead.

I can't tell you how surprised I was to discover that this person wasn't a member of FA, or PBLRD, or even B0T, but in fact is someone I'm allowed to go and shoot at.

I may need to look into this.

Glad to see some interest here. I was hoping this didn't go to waste.

Also, ya'll are bad re: marriage. I really lucked out this time around (#1 was a mess); she's less like a ball & chain and more like whips & chains. Twisted

I certainly hope Malcolm Lionel has his nullsec mining permits in order.

I'm interested in getting into bombers. Got any tips for a newbie? Anything I can do to practice attack runs and such? I was thinking about fitting festival launchers and doing torpedo attack runs on miners.

My comprehensive guide to new pilot bomber experience optimization:

1. Choose the bomber you are most likely to have sex with if it were a person, looks can be an important factor!
( Just note purifier and hound have better potential DPS with an extra low where the nemesis and Manticore have more Ewar ability )

2. Learn your fit - many newbies choose an MSE ( Medium shield extender ) to give them enough tank to surivive glancing shots and give them a buffer to learn to fly better. Once your experienced you no longer need these though some people choose to keep them. ( Note again to fit these you may require a micro auxiliary powercore ) Also Faction torpedos are a MUST until you have T2, and even then apply DPS better than some T2 depending on the target. And dont derp and fit an improved cloak, covert cloak or the door is that way

3. Learn your prey - Bombers have unique damage application in the sense that smaller targets are improbable to kill while larger targets seem to melt under sustained fire. Your best bet is to always punch above your weight class, go for anything big enough for the torpedo to apply their damage. Untanked and unarmed ships also fall victim to solo bombers, while bomber gangs are capable of taking down virtually anything bigger than a frigate ( And with recon support frigates die too! )

Remember that Rapid light missiles, painters, webs, damps, small guns, instalock high tracking medium guns ( Insta-Canes, Deimos, etc ), and drones are the biggest threat to your bomber as they hit you best or mess with you hardest.

4. Cloaking - Your cloak is your shield and dagger, without it your dead. you gain the ability to selectively engage targets when you can warp cloaked, see a hauler on a POCO? Go for it. See a Jaguar gang coming through? NOPE cloak and wait it out. Think like a space troll, hit when you can and peace out when the going is about to get rough

5. AFK Cloaky "what it means to you" - You can make a mid way safe between to planets and Cloak in a system while your AFK, this tends to shut down mining, mission, and most ratting activities around skiddish null sec dwellers and some jumpy low sec groups. You don't make any ISK Doing it and there is no Risk to your ship if you remain cloaked, but you get the reward of shutting down an entire system for the duration of your stay.

6. T2 Torpedo - T2 torps are really hard to fit well without advanced weapon upgrades 4-5, this makes certain fits impossible to use while using T2 but you gain Much improved range with javelins and stupid DPS with Rage against large targets such as capitals and Battleships. Do not attempt to use rage against frigs or some cruisers as your DPS Will be unable to apply itself resulting in the loss of your bomber.

7. Black Ops and Recons - Recons give you the ability to engage targets you couldn't before, falcon jams let you take on anti frigate ships, rapiers allow you to take on fast cruisers and frigs with long ranged web ability and painter bonuses, Pilgrims drink the cap from active tankers making them useless, and arazus hold and scram from range keeping you out of harms way

Black Ops take it a step up and add more DPS, Covert Jump portals ( Bridges ) and specific roles when in large fleets. Black ops fleets are feared all over low and null for good reason as they can really mess with your day. getting in with a black ops corp / alliance can open the door to a lot of nice or interesting kills too.

TLDR - There isn't one

♣ Small Gang PVP, Large Fleet PVP, Black Ops, Incursions, Trade, and Industry ♣ 70% Lethal / 30% Super-Snuggly / 110% No idea what im doing ♣

Thanks a lot, this is awesome. You ever want to take me on a training flight sometime, look me up in game. Seriously though, this should be posted somewhere.

As for the type, I've already picked one. Manticore. <3 Equally sexy to the Nemesis, and easier to fit.
