Is anyone bowing out of Industry with these new changes?

I have read a lot of mixed feelings about the patch but the biggest thing seems to be that you no longer need an indy alt, or even an indy focused character to make things effectively now. Due to this and the increased cost to make ships do any of you plan to move on to another facet of Eve

Its bit too early to make assumptions lets wait a bit to see how things are going to be with this cost scaling stuff.

My PVP alts all have manufacturing specific skills so I for one welcome our new less terrible industry interface overlords.

Obligatory: Can I have your stuff?
Just drop those "useless" blueprints in a item contract and I'll give them a good home.

Seriously? Basically this all boils down to "I don't wanna change", right?
We can rebalance every ship under a thousand suns, but if CCP dares to change the industry clickfest...

Trying out all the things to do here in Eve - it's quite a checklist. So I made a blog Jakob's Eve Checklist

no, it boils down to me not feeling the end result is worth sticking 30bn worth of BPOs in a POS in order to carry on doing what i was.

I've already torn down all of my towers and done all the invention and manufacturing I need to keep my alts in modules and ammo for a year or so, so I'm just watching for now. May tinker with it a bit as more bugs are patched, but for now I'm out of the industry game. Transitioning my alts to faction warfare to watch my ships go boom. :)

And I'm sure there is no solution or alternative method to that

what so ever

amiright?

So yeah, in that case sell your BPOs on the market and use the funds from that to fire up an blingy incursion runner, or fund your next market trading empire, or even just buy enough plex that you can futz around the game for three fricken years to find something else you like.

Hell no I'm not bowing out. If anything I'll be ramping up. Mostly in stations and with NPC haulers of course. I will be giving things a little bit to get settled before I go back at it hard, but I'm just waiting and watching while I get my stuff reorganized.

from a personal point of view, the alternatives are not a viable option. Defend a POS just wont happen because i cant guarantee been online during every 24 hour period in order to remove said BPOs, and installing in a station was a no go the minute it showed that it would take 444d to ME research a freighter from scratch, when it would have taken a hell of a lot less previously.

...............so research is a no-go for me, thats all.

Still skill limitations so i have alts working on mundane things while my main indy toon does the big stuff. Honestly I might get more involved since its easier for me to understand

There are strong reasons to consider not participating in reasearch, its like the old "ships built without extra materials" thing, but now everyone keeps their researched bpos, that more often than not took 1/10 of time and money to make.

But if enough industrialist quit, atleast there will be plenty of perfect bpc's :)

I already have 30 or 40 researched prints from ammo to battlecruisers.
I'm planning on building as much as I always have.

At this point I am far too invested into industry. I could sell all of my bpos I supppose, but it would take a lot of time. I am going to take a brief hiatus from industry though and see where the dust settles. For now, I am going to start up some heavy PI.

Have you considered making a BPC in a station, and using that in the POS?

So you stick them in a station, make copies and stick the copies to the POS. Copies are nearly free to make and there are no assembly line limitations for making them.

Oh sorry, too hard, extra step, slit wrists and jump off balcony.

Yes, there's a limitation to making them. It's called Laboratory Operation and Advanced Laboratory Operation.

One extra step, but 2093480283402834 fewer clicks overall.
