they got rid of that mechanic years ago. I've let probably a dozen or so storyline missions (and far more regular missions) expire with no standings hit. I play for a while then get busy and don't log in for a week. just check out my inbox: http://i.imgur.com/RF5X4CB.png

however if you accept the mission and let it expire, well then you get a standings hit. I think it is just as bad as if you fail the mission.

Do you mean that you get no standing hits, or negative standing attribution if you let a mission offer expire?

This was discussed 3 pages ago, but to recap for those that didn't read the thread;

Declining a mission has no standings effect; Unless it is the second decline within 4 hours.
Letting a mission that was offered but not accepted expire has no standing effect.
Accepting a mission and failing it, or letting in expire without completing it, will give you standing hit.

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

Confirming that this is wrong, wrong, wrong. Always has been. Please check this and don't spread the misunderstanding any further. Standings are complicated enough as is.

I'm 90% sure it was a mechanic at some point as I remember flying around to decline storyline missions on my alt to keep his standings neutral. Also at some point I lost my 10 standing to an agent/corp, although maybe that was because of an accepted mission expiring?

ah well I just spent way too much time looking through the patch notes for some mention of this. maybe it was all in my head? also it seems I deleted most of my mails from way back, so I can't really be sure there anyways.

exactly. and because it is a mission offer that means it wasn't accepted

All right then, I will verify, record videos or screenshots with description and comments about it on forums discussion.

Hopefully a GM or Dev can clarify the standing rules governing offered missions that expire.

Gonna re-post my reply from another thread here as well :

Quote:
Until I see a Dev state otherwise, that doesn't prove anything, especially since everyone in that thread is concentrating on Corp / Faction standing. There's more than just Corp and Faction standing in this game, there's also Agent standing.

I've been playing this game for over 6 years and have never seen a Dev blog say regular mission offers that expire will not incur any standing hits. I remember when CCP changed Storyline offers to that mechanic which was quite a while ago, probably about 5 yrs.

When you let a mission offer expire, you lose Agent standing.

If you decline more than 1 mission offer from the same Agent within a 4 hr time period you lose Agent and Corp standing.

If you fail an accepted mission you lose Agent, Corp and Faction standing.

In fact, if you let a Cosmos mission offer expire you not only lose Agent, Corp and Faction standing, you also get locked out of accessing that Agent and possibly even other Agents that are included in the chain.

So yeah, please link the proof or better yet, just have a GM / Dev post and confirm it's true and I will gladly say I was wrong and you're right.

OK, since nobody would link any pictures to prove their statements, I checked it out myself and took some screen shots. This was done with a brand new Level 3 Distribution Agent.

Penalty for Mission Offer being declined more than once within a 4 hr time period :

Agent Standing = Neutral (0.00 Standing)

1st Mission Offer = Declined (Start 4 Hr Timer)

2nd Mission Offer = Declined (Under 4 Hrs)

Faction Standing Transaction = Negative Hit (-0.0131%)

Corp Standing Transaction = Negative Hit (-0.2871%)

Agent Standing Transaction = Negative Hit (-0.6526%)

Agent Standing = Negative Made Positive Due To Skills (-0.07 raised to +1.94 with Diplomacy 5)

It should please you to know I was wrong and you were right. I stand corrected.

Penalty for letting Mission Offer expire :

3rd Mission Offer = Removed From Journal & Left To Expire

In 7 days I'll have the results for this part.
