what worked for us is to copy your regular eve install. make a shortcut from the evelauncher in the bin folder and adding /server:Duality and it works.

so the regular instructions but NOT using the repair tool

That's exactly what I did, but I did it before they patched TQ. Some of my guys are getting incompatible release so maybe they're just bad.

For clarification (lady naween), you did this AFTER the TQ patch hit 2 days ago and it still worked?

if they get incompatible build then they used the repair tool. tell them to make a new copy of tranquility and NOT TOUCH THE REPAIR TOOL.

and yes I did it like an hour ago. first with the repair tool 9got incompatible build error thingy) and then without using the repair tool and then it worked like a charm.

I have never touched the repair tool and still have the problem.

Using Mac. Copied TQ, Trying to connect to server addresses

87.237.38.60
184.107.50.47

The former shows a "login" screen w/o login or password fields.

The latter shows an "old" login screen that tells me "Connection Failed. Could not connect..."

Advice how to get Duality to work on a Mac would be great.

second that request... I bypassed the launcher and went straight for the client inside the package... i've been tinkering with cider settings all afternoon trying to get it to take a bloody command line for the server but no dice.


So far i have found that by looking in the library (/Users/my.user.name/Library/Application Support) folder for the config fiel for cider i can make it take a command line

I know its reading this file and not the one in the package itself because i made a typo and it picked it up

adding /server:87.237.38.60 or /server:duality does not work, the client (launched by calling the cider app directly) ignores the cmdline parameter even though cider is at least reading it...

Ok.... fixed it... sort of. The following is not for the faint hearted and assumes you know what you are doing... It comes with a very big health warning... YOU CAN NOT CONNECT TO TQ AND DUALITY AT THE SAME TIME LIKE THIS WITHOUT MESSING AROUND. If you forget to undo this change you will not be able to log into sisi and or tq until you do.


I can toggle my whole system to connect to duality and then manually toggle back by doing the following:

Close all clients
copy the config file under /Users/my.user.name/Library/Application Support - for the love of god please make a copy.
open the config file and edit the very end so it looks like the following:

[appdefaults\\ExeFile.exe\\transgaming]
"dockicon" = "Y"
"CmdLineAdd" = "/server:87.237.38.60"


Make a copy of your EvE '.app' file... for this i'm assuming you called it EVE Online - Duality

Run the following command form the terminal:

/Applications/EVE\ Online\ -\ Duality.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider

Voila, you should be connected to duality... to toggle back restore your old file or undo the cmdlineadd bit...


Told you it was nasty and a hack.... thats three hours of my life i wont get back :)

Anyone know a workaround for Steam accounts to get onto Duality? Couple of my guys are on Steam, and I've not found how to get on Duality for the Steam users yet (or I'm looking in all the wrong places)

INCOMPATIBLE RELEASE RESOLUTION

The problem.

Made a copy of TQ as normal and I followed these instructions.

"In the copied folder, NOT in the bin, evelauncher.exe--> click that to update (abt 260mg), close it
In that same folder, also not in the bin, start eve.exe--->click that to update (abt 240mg), close it
THEN in the bin folder, the eve.exe file, and make the shortcut like it says in the instructions

I had a 1.14 gig update not 240 or 260mb but, in the end going though the process above resolved the incompatible release issue I was having and I was able to log in on Duality.

Last night with 200 players on Duality this was what we experienced.

-Drones were not working properly. Sometimes up to 30s to launch them.
-module activation 5 to10s delay.
-ships would remain in the overview for 30s after being destroyed.
-auto fitting 2 mins sometimes more per ship.

All of this with no TiDi


You guys done a great job in setting up all of this for us in your own time. But we really need this lag to go away in order to train properly.
