Someone already said this but this is so true,

CCP will be what killed Eve Online.

It's not about a product just being shut down. The problem lies in the MMO genre being infected with stagnation, I mean look at Star Wars, Wildstar, Elder Scrolls and all the other ones out there, they're all clones!

If this thing launches, and holds true to their philosophy and can actually make some of these new things like player police, player created content...and players voting on punishments? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! It's amazing!

I will say that my point was not that they will,
more they would have to fundamentaly **** up on an extremely pervasive level to kill eve ,
I don't see anything short of that or dinsdale getting his way actually making much of a dent.

Sony must be wasting their time and money on EQ Next and Landmark then?

Im still waiting for Hangar Offline / P2W Fishtank / How Do I Dogfight the Module Online to kill Eve.

This MMO will just have to get in line.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Lets see...

Black Phrophacy (dead) STO (went FTP in a month) SWTOR (Went FTP in a month), JGE (dead in the cradle)...

No, i'm sorry, nothing will 'kill eve' except ccp or us.

The pretty looking pryimid scheme wont kill eve, nor will this one.

However, competition is a good thing. So bring it

Seriously, from taking a look at that mediocre website, that game looks more like a poor attempt at an EVE clone than a serious attempt at an EVE killer. Just look at the FAQ, half of those questions would be perfectly describing EVE Online Roll

Well proper funding can fix a lot of things, IMO as long as the vision is great, the funding will create the vision. I'll support the project for sure, it's just bringing too many new things to the genre, and that's what the industry really needs. Unfortunately I have to wait till pay day, but I'm all in on this one.

Reading FAQs and ran across this:

Quote:
Event Horizon is a sandbox MMO which means you are free to do whatever you want, however, in order to combat griefing we will be taking steps to dissuade unsanctioned combat within secure space.

Stopped reading at that point. No point in looking further cause EvE will still be here.

Stopped reading right here, because obviously anything else you say doesn't matter either.

See how that works?

Ontopic I can't really disagree with that, there's too many douches on the internet that would literally camp starting zones, and the game would be dead on arrival.

Indiegogo flexible funding?

Yeah, I think I'll go to Jita and sell a PLEX to contracts — apparently someone is buying them for 1.2bn a pop. Then I'll take that money and get it doubled. That seems like a much better and reliable way of getting some return on my investment… Lol

If this thing actually makes it out the gate, how do you feel it will effect Eve?

OK. Let's start this.

First of all, I don't see any MMO on that page. I see a badly designed web page that's screaming 1990's all over the place (with a big beveled button on top and everything). There are so many great looking free Wordpress themes out there that having a page this bad does not have an excuse whatsoever.

Contact information on "Privacy policy page" says that the location of the business is in a rental apartment. I mean, come on... I live in Serbia where the government takes 78% (well, 78,5% to be more accurate) of whatever you earn and I still have enough to have a proper office as a self employed programmer.

Concept art of that ship seems to be made in Gimp or Fireworks. And it's called "Scimitar" (?) That's funny, because IndieGogo campaign for the concept started today and the first "devblog" was published yesterday and you can already see it in GD of EVE online. Judging by the description and what can be read now on that site, I can bet that whoever created the page is EVE player and there is a possibility that it's the OP (but that one I can't guarantee). I mean, come on... since the first introductory devblog is one day old and Google search for "event horizon online" lists links to online movie services where you can watch "Event Horizon" movie online, there's no way anyone got there randomly through a search engine.

Note to whoever created that page, because there is a possibility you are reading this:
- Wordpress is your friend even if it's just used for concept presentation;
- Responsive design is a standard for 21st century. You want your idea to be read and shared on all devices, not just computer screens;
- Twitter Bootstrap or Foundation CSS are your friends;
- Don't claim that you can support Oculus Rift when you don't even have offices or developers yet.
- As a business owner seeking for investors, you or your company are not listed on LinkedIn. In fact, neither the owner or the company is listed on the official Tampa, FL company registry;
- Never ever write "I" or in first person unless you are working on a personal project;

EVE killer? Hardly. You can get more concepts for a game from EVE's "Features & Ideas" forum, slap it on a Wordpress page, start a crowdfunding campaign and you are (apparently) good to go.

wait, it's not a game about Sam Neil and a ship that warps to hell and back?

If not, then FU. The game will suck.
