Fleet Merge 2 - The Return

Its one of those things that in small gang PVP is annoying. You find a target thats too big to chew on, and ping a mate whos running around somewhere with another small gang. Lets join up and kill that thing.

Usually - its a case of defleet, invite one to a wing, let them reinvite, rejig as required. Its always a PITA, particularly if there's no shared channel with some, or alts etc, and Logi squads etc all needing a rejig.

Proposal: Invite X to Wing/Squad, bring her fleet.

Basically, if someone is running a Wing (or squad) that fits into your fleet, then they can be invited in to a newly created one. The merge requires no 'defleet/refleet', just a different type of invite.

Obviously, the owner or Fleet Commander can disable this in a fleet setup to offer some protection. Additionally, like disabling fleet warp, any member can disable 'auto merge'.

This would be incredibly useful.
Of course only fleet boss should be able to invite people like that.

This could be awoxy as hell.

Yes, definitely.

Fleet Boss A invites Fleet Boss B's linked fleet to Wing 3 (for example). Fleet Boss B accepts and transfers all squads to Wing 3 of A.

Any B member can deny this request, 'popup' as usual, or disable it to simply drop fleet or stay in fleet B perhaps.

Make sure that when this feature is added, its disabled by default.

This issue and implementation was discussed a lot with merging/reforming fleets for Incursions. Some of the ISK/hour hunters will be very happy if this gets done.

Hadn't even imagined anything outside normal PVP, but yes, can see where it would be useful even in PVE.

yes, but only allowed if your FC (assuming he's the "boss") has the right skills to add a squad / wing.

Kinda like the old days --> anyone could make a "gang" (i.e. a squad), but you needed leadership (FC?) to convert that into a fleet.

Given how desirable this might be, would be nice to have some dev input on the problems in implementing it.

I can see a great many ways in which this could be useful - particularly if the reverse was also possible (I have a fleet consisting of two wings; I choose to divide my forces (perhaps to get more fights by having smaller groups, perhaps because I have enough of everything in the waitlist wing to allow two seperate Incursion fleets...etc) so I take Wing 1 and it remains as is while Wing 2 hives off and becomes Wing 1 of a new fleet (without having to have everyone in Wing 2 defleet, refleet and reorganise...)

If this is feasible then please, CCP, "Make it so."

Yes, this would also be great. It just a mess at the moment, and I suspect everyone would benefit from large scale to small all around.

This seems like a useful suggestion, worth spending the time involved in looking into it.
+1 for it being investigated by CSM/CCP

If they implement this, I will be gleefuly awaiting the TMC article about the FC who AWOX'd his fleet using this tactic.
