Summary: Goonswarm is a collection of trolling, homophobic and racist scum this game has ever seen. While the last two listed are not illegal, they are morally wrong and the consequences could be tragic.
Goonswarm is also creating a hostile new-player environment, which has scared off quite a few Trialees. Let us not forget the Burn Jita Burn events where those thrice-damned Goons ganked en masse every ship in Jita, which is in 0.9 SECURITY SPACE. No place is safe from these cut-throat marauders..

Moral of the game: Do NOT trust a Goon, do not interact with a Goon, and do NOT join any CFC / Goonswarm Federation-affiliated corporation if you want the game to remain beautiful.

Not sure if trolling at V with T2 Trolling rigs and trolling mods in the lows or actually THAT mad about goons... but...

Burn Jita is awesome. And if you are adversely affected by it (for christ sake, they ANNOUNCE the date!) you have failed.

Personal opinion, but censoring speech never seems to work, cuz the hate is still there.

I like my bigots and homophobes and such to be mouthy. Makes identifying them for amusing bouts of shaming that much easier.



Random factoid: Alan Turing, the father of modern computing, was gay. Pretty badly abused by the British government, even after the amazing stuff he did in WW2. It gets the homophobic quite riled up when you mention that basically every modern convenience they depend on to spew hatred came about due to a gay man.

The 'muricans in this thread like to bang on about how they have freedom of speech - except they don't.

They aren't free to shout Fire! in a crowded theatre (or they are if they don't mind getting locked up, but the freedom to be locked up isn't what I would call freedom).

They aren't free to phone up the local airport and claim to be from Al Q'aida and issue a bomb warning.

So please stop drivelling on about how you have freedom of speech and us euros live under oppression blah blah.

I do remember reading on the Goonswarm forums of a sig especially for LGTB people. And i know the sig for women (yes we do have women in Goonswarm) also gladly accepts transgenders associating with the female gender. So i think the homophobia in goons is perhaps a tad exagerated.

I have heard far worse in this respect in some other alliances where i used to be part of or had a SPAI account in. And those were not exactly in the CFC (far from it).

Freedom of speech means that I am allowed to have my own opinion, and voice that opinion, if I choose to do so. Not that I may make fake emergency calls or cause a public panic.
