Ejecting to Save a Pod?

Just curious if it's been tried or if it works ... If you get caught in an ambush and know you're going to blow, would it work to eject and try to warp off and leave your attackers with a ship? Seems like you might be able to slip out if they're focused on your ship.

The advantage from ejecting is that the attackers might not have a free scrambler. Switching targets with a point can take a few seconds. If it works depends on if the enemy is prepared for your move or not.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

Also, be sure to be pre-aligned to some destination so that when you do eject, you dont waste time trying to align the pod before warping off thus giving your assailant time to re-target and pin your down. .

Though if they do notice they stop firing and keep your ship.

The normal method is to go down in a blaze of glory then, when you hit structure, select a warpable object in your overview, for instance a planet and spam that warp button.
Your pod will align and warp almost immediately. They would need very fast locking to stop you. Unless of course you are in null sec or a wormhole and they've dropped a bubble, then you're not going anywhere.

Remember, don't sit at the warpable you go to, keep moving.

This is unnecessary. Pods have an align time of 0 - the second the server registers that you hit the 'warp' button, you're in warp. This is why if you spam the warp button upon your ship exploding, it is impossible to be killed assuming no smartbombs or bubbles...that or horrendous lag.

In general I wouldn't eject. If they manage to stop firing in time and your ship doesn't explode, they take it -and- you don't get insurance.

In my experience, both being podded and podding, it is rarely wise to eject from a ship.

Best method.... just spam warp to a distant object as your ship is going down. When it blows up, your pod should enter warp before any ship can lock you. Typically, it requires a lag spike or a bubble to catch anyone employing this tactic.

When you eject, there is a lag time before you can initiate warp with your pod. In my experience, ejecting provides MORE time for a fast locking ship to snag your pod. You do have surprise on your side though, so this works moderately often.

There are 2 times in which its common to eject from a ship that's going down:
-- If its a t3 cruiser, ejecting from the ship sometimes saves people skill points.
-- If the enemy is bringing a dictor over to bubble you, sometimes ejecting right away can save your pod. I typically try to kill the dictor rather than eject though!!!!

I have to agree with this fellows opinion. Unless your pod is worth more than the ship or you are flying a T3 ship and want to avoid the skill loss. But it sounds like you are a newer player, you shouldn't have to worry about this for a while.
