Those lethal AFK cloakers got all of them.

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

19.08.2014 - Dinsdale gets slammed by CCP Falcon. Never forget.

I always thought it would be nice to allow players to keep their old ships in their original configuration. If you wanted to upgrade a modest fee would pay for the overhaul. The ship would be brought up to current specs and hull design. Otherwise, you could keep your ship old school.....undock just for a Sunday drive.

Yea.....server load blah, blah, blah.

I honestly never want to see a live one in game ever again. To me that would make it less special.

By all means, add other, new limited edition ships from time to time and let them get rare/extinct too.

No, they were a series of special edition ships which were given by CCP to an EVE micro lottery provider known as Somer Blink. Blink was controversial for a couple of reasons, as it was also a timecard/plex seller (can't remember which), which was done in such a way combined with the gambling that people had some (not unreasonable) moral objections to. I believe they also had a strategy that monetized the system for them. That practice was stopped because it whiffed of RMT.

CCP rather liked the Somer Blink system and offered them the opportunity to make a huge profit by giving them a bunch of Ishukone Scorpions to raffle off (for an in game ISK profit for Somer). Many people objected to Somer receiving special treatment.

The argument was;

a. What makes them so special that they should get a stack of special edition ships in the first place?

b. Why should they be entitled to profit from this?

c. What guarantee do you have that they won't just keep the ships (the answer from CCP: none).

A mega threadnaught ensued.

2011 character, so you must have been around last year when they thought about brining it back. The forums where on fire. If that many people think its a bad, and CCP listen...its probably a bad idea. Not to mention people like Chribba and Entity where also cautioning that CCP were about to make a bad mistake.

Eve is about loss, when you lose a ship, its gone. Simple as that. This isn't WoW where your stuff if giftwrapped and given back to you when you die. This is Eve. Actions gave consequences and the Gold Magnate was lost. That is how it should remain.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Now THERE'S an idea. It'd be a ***** to put in, but dammit, it'd be a good addition to the game.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

I for one like the fact that there is only one Federate Megathron and that there will never be another.

Exactly this.

In EVE choices have consequences. They were limited ships and their owners chose to get them blown up, so now they're gone. That's how it should be.

Yes, yes I am. Thanks for noticing.

Hmmm, it can be nice to have a ship which can perform like a Raven State Issue.

8 launchers, extra hitpoints - mmm

For people who really care there is an alternative... the new implants +6% for missiles, explosion radius, rate of fire, explosion velocity etc, each worth around 700 mill. 2,5 bill for hardwirings.

Some officer Ballistic Control Units, add more billions of isk. Currently sold for 12 bill ISK

So around 40 bill ISK for a boost of performance 1% + 1% + 2,5% + 2,5% *08 + 2,5%*06 = 8 % damage boost, over standard faction gear and regular +5% hardwirings. (11% gain over tech 2 BCUs)

And then you can get 8 % BOOST comparable to extra 14,28% fire power worth of 8th launcher on Raven State Issue.

40 bill ISK is so much closer than 300 bill ISK.

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

goddamnit Tyrrax Thorrk, you had to lose it to m0oP

I wouldn't mind CCP organizing another succession trial again once Jamyl somehow kicks the bucket (which is long overdue imho). Could even be a cool step towards giving capsuleers even more power.

the Gold Magnate is lost, let it be lost.

...now if the next succession trial gives out a pink magnate....
