War Dec mechanics

I have seen some talk lately about jumping in and out of corps/alliances to avoid war decs. I am curious about the mechanics for potentially escalating the forces in an existing war dec.

- an alliance has dec'd our alliance;
- The 'aggressor' has one corp, and that one corp has one member;
- Can other corps join the aggressing alliance at any time and instantly become WTs?
- If other corps do join the aggressing alliance, how long does it take to update the in-game info? Immediately or only after DT?

My understanding is that you cannot legally 'become' a WT while in system with a potential WT (i.e. the guy next to you at a gate cannot suddenly join the enemy and kill you, it is an exploit); however, does this exploit apply even if they don't kill you? What if they appear next to you, so you jump through a gate and find 5 new WTs?. Finally, if a 100 man corp joins and many are online in systems where you are online (but maybe do not engage), is that an exploit?

They will become instant war targets.

I belive iv read two different versions on whats allowed and whats not.

One GM stated you need a session time inbetween joining and engaging
Another stated you need to be docked up when join corp or an alliance at war before you can fight

I do know from what iv read that sitting next to an upcomming target when joining war is seen as an exsploit.

Thats the same answer. You session timer kicks in when you undock, so "legally" you could follow a guy to a station not in the corp and when he docks up you can dock up with him then join the corp that wardecs him. Once you undock , you session timer has occured and you can shoot him with surprise "buttsix" as it were (and assuming its a freighter, you session timer will wear off before its align to warp...but with 20 seconds now...yeah they sorta of fixed that loop hole for you...30+ seconds to align with only 20 seconds to wait...you win!). As long as you are not on the same gate as the guy when you join the warpdec corp and then attack seconds after joining which is illegal exploit as far as I know, because that "session timer" excuse is the bare minimum amount of time CCP deems it your responsibility to check local for war targets so people don't pull the instant join -> Gank -> BUT I DIDN'T SEE A WARTARGET! THATS RISKLESS TO THE OFFENDER! the gankee is going to cry (which is a lot of extra work for the GM's to go through) because they couldn't counter it in seconds where as at least 1/3 of a minute might let you counter it.

Only problem with EVE is there are a lot of grey areas to "GM says this" and actual game play vs the complaints of "tactics" used that **** people off enough they need to petition. Just by having a minimum timer involved (say 15 minutes, more then enough time to get anywhere in EVE even with a freighter to a station without aggression) of when someone clicks accept to join corp and they show up as a war target (at same time, that guy can't fire for the first 15 minutes) would go a long way to solving a lot of complaints/whining. If you have been sitting around next to a guy for 15 minutes and your Spidey Senses haven't kicked in to GTFO then it was your fault for sitting still for so long.

I don't mind checking for WTs in my station before I undock, or even checking in local. Currently, I also check the alliance and corp info of the aggressor to see if they have increased, as well. This theoretically will give me some idea what to expect on the other side of gates. Does anyone know how fast that info updates?

Btw, a bit of a PITA, but my freighter is staying parked. Blockade runners and maybe a transport for hauling until this is resolved.....if it is still a war dec after 5 or 6 days, we will probably war dec a partner alliance to at least drive up their cost (ofc, ours too :)).
