BLOPs Questions

1. With max skills, how much mass can a single BLOPs ship bridge on a single cargohold of isotopes? I know it depends on distance too, so for argument's sake, let's assume it's to the max bridging distance.

2. It appears that bombers have the most efficient mass:dps with respect to BLOPs bridging; Is this correct? Is anything else even close?

3. If the BLOPs battleship itself jumps through to the covert cyno, does it use the same amount of isotopes that an equivalent mass of other ships use, or does it get a "discount"?

I'll post additional/follow-on questions as my coffee kicks in :) Thanks in advance!

1. For max skills and max range, i think its something like 1100 fuel for the blops itself and ~200 per bomber. The fuel bay carries a bit over 8000 isotopes so 30-35 bombers maybe? One way trip though.

2. Correct, fuel costs go way up with larger ships. Most people just bridge bombers and maybe something like a rapier.

3. Jumping costs far less. Putting a blops through another's portal will get you shot by the guy paying for the fuel.

Excellent, thank you for the answers!

Follow-on question:

Let's say character A lights a covert cyno. Can *two* BLOPs battleships each individually jump themselves for ~1100 out of their own fuel bay?

any number of blops can jump to the cyno (and of course each has to pay the fuel cost)

Its not quite 30 Bombers that can make a single bridge, if your really concerned about fuel a cloaky hauler or an orca makes that no issue, plus the cargohold can hold enough for for the Blops itself. I have a Sin and ive done max range jumps to drop a small gang on an assault frigate because we were bored and still had fuel to take us all home.

Also if your not combatdropping the Black Ops and fuel is an issue pig fit it with expanders and youll never have to worry about that again.

Expanders and rigs you can in addition push blops cargo to 4000 - 5000 m3.

Just remember that Blockade Runners can follow you through carrying fuel for another jump.

Also keep in mind that Blops ships do not get Covert Ops Cloaks. This means no warping cloaked and no taking bridges from other blops. If you want to get to a cyno, you have to jump there yourself.

JDC V is the AWU V of Capital/Jump skills, for what it's worth.

EDIT: also, armor plates affect the mass of the ship they're fitted on and will increase fuel costs. Try not to fly plated ships unless your gang specifically calls for it, and if you're just taking a transit bridge instead of dropping into combat consider offlining your plat to remove the mass penalty (yes, this apparently works).

Something worth noting...while a lot of people hate bridging covops cruisers (each is essentially using the same topes at 8 bombers), its worth noting that a fully fit, plated stratios still uses less mass than say, the bare hull of a loki (or close to it).

If your target is smaller than a battleship many AF will do better than stealth bombers for applied dps

The applied DPS of a gang of Assault Frigates who cannot reach the target is zero.

With proper web and painter support, bombers can do respectable, albeit not full, damage to most targets.

We've killed Taranises with a handful of bombers and no jamming support, and it was a pretty routine Siege Fleet experience to dunk on some cool kid in an Interceptor who thought their Interceptor could solo 50 bombers with scrams, webs, and painters.
