No , this ain't another 'EvE is dying' thread. EvE was and is dying.

But I am curious. I went through my mails (say up to 6 months old) and i noticed how many pilots i knew and flew with went inactive.
All from different corps (small/big, hisec/low/null, high/low SP players...etc.), some had RL issues (or just were too busy to play games) but most went inactive from 1 day to another never to be seen online again.
So is it just me or did some of you notice something similar ?
Is there a general cause that might get guys stop playing ? (a hisec bear might not be worried about the current state of nullsec)

To be on the safe side - in case you are bored / plan to take a break - can i have your stuff or at least ships ?

If you've noticed so many of your friends and corp mates going inactive, did you perhaps consider that you're the problem?

Its normal ****. I went inactive 2 times and still came back. This hobby consumes much time, thats why it interferes with RL here and there.
I for myself is very proud to tell people that I play Excel in space.

Where exactly did i say they were my corpmates/friends ?

I must confess 2-3 pilots who i had a disagreement in the past might have found EVE to be less pleasant to spend time in, but that is a tiny fraction.

I work outside every day...and I am a redheaded stepchild, therefore, there is no tan...there is only permanent pain. Sad

Are you looking like a wrestler, or is my memory tricking me?

Was this around the time that the next expansion was revealed?

One thing I've noticed in MMOs is that players tend to leave the game a few months before a big expansion is due, they then return to the game once the expansion is released. I don't understand why this happens, only that it happens.

in the end, you are all that remains.

EVE Online - never forget.

on a serious note, I do know some people are always looking for "content", but fail to understand that in EVE the "content" is only the tools of the trade(or destrucion/construction) and what really makes this game is the people.

so they grinded missions. so they built standings. so they have an expensive ship. for some people, all goals have been reached. they ran out of reasons to play - they have nothing else to achieve.

the thing is, that's all that some people think of, never considering all there is in EVE-O. the goals of fat wallets and pimped up ships are only tools. people who set their goals like this will never understand EVE. these people come and go, and those who stay are the ones that understand the simple fact that ships, fittings, skills and money are only tools. it's what they do with those tools that makes this game what it is, since as early as the beta.

I don't know either one of those who stayed since the very beginning and never left. but I feel confident enough to say that those that stay don't play EVE for the ships or the iskies but for the social interaction and unique experience.

EVE Online is about the story.

There was a discussion on the wormhole subsection of the forums a while ago where a number of crops said that their member activity had fallen drastically in the past few months.

For me, there simply isn't enough new and exciting content being released, especially for wormholes space, so people are logging on less or unsubscribing until something good happens. Others will say that there is always a slump in activity during the summer... I guess only time will tell.

hard to pin it down to anyone thing, just too much changed and most of it not for the best.

used to love the simplicity of just havin frigs cruiser and bs.

buzzin around lowsec as a -10 for years, untill FW and cap ships stopped all that being fun for me.

what really finnished eve for me was the war dec nerf a few year back, its never been the same since then, ive just kept the skills goin for goins sake. and i used to be a 16hr a day guy for years and years, now i just log in to do skills.

last nail in the coffin was-i went and checked out the keynote from fanfest, and the more i watched that tool hilmar the more i realised i aint payin that fools wages anymore to wreck my game
