Currently im training gallente i have up to battle cruisers and no tech 2. gallente have my favorite ships and i love drones but minmatar have projectile weapons which i've heard are better than hybrid. i plan on doing both pve and pvp and only want to focus on one factions ships

So i want to know what the pros and cons of hybrid and projectile weapons are

what faction is better for both pvp anf pve

and which faction would be best to work for tech 2 ships/weapons, tech 3 ship and eventually capital ships which would'nt be for years

There is no best faction.

Specially after tiercide all factions have their uses.

In one setting Minmatar could be better then Gallente while in the next setting its the opposite.

It all depends on the ships itself, the tactics used, the location etc. etc.

Hybrids:

+ highest DPS of all short range weapons (blasters).
- capacitor depending
- blasters have near to no optimal
+ railguns have a long range.

Projectile
+ no cap needed
+ 'selectable' damage profile
+ Arty has huge alpha/volley damage

ship and weapon balance has been significantly improved over the last few years. right now, every race has at least a few very strong ships and (almost) every ship has at least one situation where it shines.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Well when minmattar ships explode it breaks into two smaller ones. also they are red and red goes fasta.

But all races got enough Dakka just fly what you like.

Dont be afraid to spread your sp around a bit. It good to cross train for more than one reason.

-Having intimate knowledge of the different races' ships means that you know first hand the weeknesses of your opponents and how they are likely to be fit.

-As has been mentioned there are different "best" ships for different situations. Its nice to be a little versatile when those situations present themselves.

Instead of focusing on one race consider focusing on one ship class or on one roll across all the races.

You can train your weapon system independent of the faction of your preferred ships. For example, the Gallente Dominix is a great PVE Lvl 4 ship that can easily use projectile weapons in combination with drones. There are also some Amarr fits that use projectile weapons (heresy, I know) because they don't drain the cap. You are really only locked into a weapon system when the ship gives an important bonus for one.

I think it makes sense to specialize in a weapon to begin with. Later, the gunnery support skills will be transferable to other turret weapons. Missiles are a separate skill path.

Actually they have better Opti than AC's, also Null gives a bonus to opti, unlike Barrage.

Minmatars have nice frigates but ugly batleships. And you will be staring at your ship A LOT. If you like gallente look more, you can go drone ships way (Vexor, Myrmidon, Dominix, Ishtar) and use cap independent projectile weapons.

But it seems to me, that faction you are looking for is Angel Cartel. Machariel is one of the best ships to do L4 security missions or harder combat anomalies, Dramiel is one of the best PvP frigate, Cynabal is well known PvP cruiser as well... But they are not cheap. And you will need cheap frigates to learn PvP.

All what matters is that you will have to choose your targets properly. Some ships you should not attack in minmatars frigates, some - in gallente. Some targets should not be attacked in frigate at all.

The only problem I see with cross training gallente and minmatars is that minmatars ships uses shield skills a lot, and gallente - armor skills... Cause weapon platform is not an issue if you go drone boats way - they do not have bonuses for turrets.

@OP You might want to look at the pirate faction ships. That might help in deciding what to train for next. For me running LV4 missions in a Dmoi was ok . But then I trained Caldari ships and got the Rattlesnake. It fits my play style more (big, aggressive and tanked)

Oh and since you fly drone ships never underestimate the drone durability rigging.

Nothing gets my heart all aflutter like the sight of the majestic Myrmidon undocking.

The great thing about this ship is that it has no weapon bonuses. It's equally at home with lasers, projectiles or hybrids. A pulse laser Myrm with good drone skills will carry you for a long time in this game.

Yeah..I know my post isn't really relevant to the OP. It's just that whenever I see the words Gallente and battle cruiser in the same sentence I get that tingle.

Unles you have to fight Angel Cartel NPC's. But there you can use Arty on Myrm just as well. Gallente drone boats are that versatile. Amarr drone boats let you use missle launchers together with drones, but it is a different style of game... For me Prophecy is one of the best looking ships in game, where myrm (unfortunately) is one of the ugliest. But this is personal opinion, I am glad some people find even Myrm "majestic". Here you can take a close look at Eve ships...
