Does the planetology skill have an actual effect on output?

I was wondering if planetology affects only the survey amount and not the actual output.

I think it simply affects the accuracy of scanning the surface, which in turn will allow you to place extractor heads more accurately.

for example saw couple times that planetology 4 and advanced planetology 4 with compersion with only planetology 3 can allow you to locate center of deposite that gives you even 100% more income,

The skill makes it easier to collect more resources, but it doesn't do it for you automatically.
