The only way to avoid the twisting is to learn how to read Greek and get the original Concordant Texts.

I have a friend who does that, and basically what the scriptures really says is that you should just be cool and party and enjoy your life.

Well its like the Koran as well. there are some interpentations that make it look like the relgion of peace, and i seen the same verses worded in such as way that it would seem to be the terrorist handbook.

I do find it rather odd that this is like the first GD thread about religion and polotics that hasnt spun out of control flame festing. Then again im being netural on the entire ordeal and not acting as a representative.

I don't think 'interpintation' means what you think it does - those are two different versions of the Bible, not people's understandings of them.

I've heard different stories about how it was started. That it was basically made so it was easier to take over from other religions (mostly pagan) in the area, so it had to be strong. A mix of a religious book and rules for running a country and an army. The God in the Koran is also a very angry God, I've been told, not the forgiving God in the christian bible.

I'm not religious, so I don't really know, but I was told all that.

Humm the Christian GOD is a pretty angry dude to be honest less of the forgiveness and more of the flaming rocks of doom, plagues, boils etc.

Basically as with all religions to upsurp the current religion the best ones include alot of the "pagan" religions idols and symbology as to ensure a smooth handover.
