So im jumping into some new ventures in this game when researching bpos What does a good bpo look like on wastage and such

10/10 very soon. In less than 2 weeks BPO will be changed. Might worth reading up on :-)

Until now, the rule of thumb was to get an amount of materials you want to have no waste on (usually the expensive ones) and divide it by 5 to get the perfect ME on any BPO. It is perfect in sense of wastage, but it's not ideal in practical application.

You can use EVEMon fo select a BPO and then change ME to see the difference in material requirements.

Anyway, as it was already said, all of that is going to change in a couple of weeks, so I suggest to read all about it in this dev blog or head over to Singularity test server to check it out for yourself.
