What would the forum warriors think of this idea, and it would also be interesting to see if it could be done (technically)

Starting Friday night, turn off local for one weekend - turning it back on, on Sunday night.

Now THAT would be fun ...

I am aware of my own ignorance and have checked my emotional quotient - thanks for asking

Most of the forum warriors wouldn't even notice since they rarely ever log into the game.

I project 40,000 topics started in GD asking why local is broken.

$15 for access to a forum - more money than sense.

Easily sorted - CCP spam all mailboxes informing of the event

Now this is what CCP needs to implement. At the very least, a special forum for us. Bear

I think a version of this happened by error this weekend for some. I had no problems, but it seems there were some issues with local for a while.

I personally like the idea, but would also like to take it further as a way to introduce issues occurring within Empire into the game.

Industrial disputes, terrorist activity, natural disasters would all be things that could be reasonably occurring in parts of New Eden at different times. So effects like some gates being switched off for a couple of days (resulting in players taking different routes), local going down. Concord striking for a few hours, taxes not being collected, etc. would all be good things to introduce to increase the level of immersion in an environment where the number of capsuleers is minuscule in comparison to the NPC numbers and activity going on (that we never see at the moment).

Would be no different to any other day at the office.

In other news the number of ratting ships destroyed all over EVE has tripled. Experts are claiming an anomaly of unknown origin has prompted as massive rise in undocked PvE ships, leading to an increase in predators targeting these ships. AFK cloakers have been found to rage and quit for, what seems, a related issue.

At this point it is yet unclear when or how this started, but tensions are rising while government officials are trying to get to the bottom of this. We will ofcourse continue to monitor these events and keep you updated. Back to you Klandi.

Lack of local would ruin contact to residents, which is bad.
About anything else I don't care.

As an alternative, you could move to a WH for a weekend and pretend that the sudden lack of local is due to your unique and well planned suggestion that has never been brought up before. Roll

Lack of Local would ruin the sacred "NPE", dontchaknow.

Hundreds of new players wouldn't be able to "LOLWUT" themselves into fits of hysterics while, predictably, making no contribution whatsoever to their own NPE.

Unfortunately, this is a "Good Idea" (TM) for the rest of EVE as a whole ( not that that matters ) so it's got about as much chance of happening as I do of winning the next mega-millions lottery.

Most new players ignore local completely, which is pretty bad.

At the absolute very least, Constellation should be the 'Local' channel.

And a delayed local should be grid wide only. So I can honk to greet a fellow freighter pilot at a gate that isn't afk.

Here's how I would like to see it. Keep local exactly the way it is. BUT, if I decide to sign out of local, then remove my name from the local list until I decide to sign back in.

Yea yea F&I --------> thata way. Big smile
