Shame on me for not checking stickies. I completely missed this thread.

I thought the program was quite good. I think I had three times as many people activate for the 7 days than come back. I don't know what metrics were being used, or targeted, but I thought that was halfway decent.

"I've been thinking of getting back into EVE" or "You're making me want to play again" are pretty common phrases in my stream chat. Beyond that, there have been so many changes happening that it really seems like a good way to get older players to see what the game is like now. We all know of people that have come back after only a year and have to re-learn a great deal of things because of how much has changed.

Anyways, +1 for the program here.

Would be nice if the resub had a little grace period - three to seven days, so that if the returnee does return based on their free seven days you get credit for it despite whatever reason that may prevent them from subbing during the 7 day freebie period.

so much this

I had a friend resubscribe, but he did not do so immediately and therefore I did not get the reward. I thought that it violated the spirit of the program.

I am severely disappointed that I did not get any rewards, yet I did recruit people to come back into the game.

Sucks. Recall program needs to be taken out back and put out of its misery.

This. Despite having dragged several people back to eve kicking and screaming, I got no rewards for it.

In retrospect, the recall programme was a good idea of CCP, but there were some weak points:

You could only invite people back once, and the invite was only valid for the month you invited them;

Often, the invited people came back the following month, so the person inviting got no rewards at all

(hardly an invitation for a successful outcome...)

I wanted to take advantage of this program when I returned. I had planned on asking someone to recall me on the forums. However, I couldn't post because my subscription was cancelled. Makes it hard to use the program this way.

My start date to EVE Online: 6/25/2005 8:24:57 AM UTC

What was the recall program? Was that the one where if you invited back 53 players in a month you got a plex or something? I don't know that many quitters, and the once I do won't come back without something pretty magical.

Something like that, CCP exploring methods to incentivise return of the ancient as part of a trinity marketing model: retention, conversion, return. Kinda important to discover ways to step over from the constant recycling battle that is conversion, and to a high degree retention as well.

Good idea, program needs work - and it needs some creative thinking.

Hi, i've succesfully recall two old buddys. The recall program was clear an effective, but I think that it could be improve by dividing the presents between the "recaller" and the "recalled", like giving the recalled a limited edition ship or a skin I don't know.

I used it and was able to get back two people that I know of.

My issues are, that I had no way of knowing who I had sent a request to already.

second I did not know which person activated the recall, could be nice to see that in the future so if say I send a request to billy bob and susi q, and susi q comes back, I can say hi and try to keep her in game.

Also when a recall was rejected, like I sent one to a few people I thought were no longer playing and got an 'they are ineligible' it would be nice to get a side message as to why 'active account' 'not inactive long enough' 'invite already sent' etc.

Grace period is good, just because you get in the 7 days doesn't mean you can resub during. some people might not have the money for a few days or a week.

In addition the limitations on how they could subscribe was odd. Seemed only fi you used a CC.. but if they plexed that could be nice too.

All in all I liked it.

Recalling takes more time then just two months. You need to facilitate interaction between the two parties so that the recalled person remembers the good times of logging in. Missing old pals, missing the late nights roaming, etc.

The biggest worry most recalled persons have is "how to restart?"; which assets do they have, what were their (best) chars, etc. If you can make it possible for the recalled person to view his chars with the SP (like eveboard) and a total value of the chars assets, this make the threshold lower for starting again.

Social interaction and a low threshold work much, much better then incentives like gifts, so I'd look into that as well.

Good points. Also: "this is new since you left" would be a good way to tease people who are looking for new features and toys, mainly.

In principle, you could link to a landing page with that info and maybe even add the portraits of the people he shared most killmails or in game messages with ...

... unless of course those people were the reason for quitting in the first place Roll

Don't see a problem with keeping it indefinitely.

There aren't any real disadvantages to it. It can't be exploited as far as I can tell and 7 days is not enough free time to really cut into the wallet of CCP.

I'd love to see this come back. When I joined EVE, this had already completed the trial run. In the course of playing EVE, talking about it to my friends, and talking about it on Facebook, I've got a few people who used to play it but stopped years ago almost on the hook, so to speak. They're interested in coming back, but would rather have some trial time to get a feel for it and see if they like what it has become, and don't seem interested in creating new characters for the 21 day trial. They want to play their existing characters.
