So how exactly do you think that judgement and punishment should be meted out to people outside of EvE?

And why?

And what qualifies as being a 7*, as you put it?

Not talking about punishment at all, just wondering what other players think of the meta community and if we should strive to be kinder to one another out of game. And 7* was a-hole.

I agree with you. And, as expected, the usual suspects have already started to roll in here and try to distract everyone with their BS, like any good communist state media outlet would do. I cannot wait for Malcom and Tippia to opine. I am sure it will be enlightening.

For this, I will defer to the wise CCP Falcon...

CCP Falcon wrote:

Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the comedian is the only thing that makes sense.

I am familiar with that quote from CCP Falcon, but once again I am not talking about how people play their character. I am not suggesting a departure from the rule that applies 99.9% of the time which is NBSI. What I'm talking about is the general attitude that players outside the game have.

Although one of the appeals of Eve Online is the difficulty, that harshness should end with the Eve client, unless of course everyone is role playing in all things Eve. I often feel the Mittani is almost always in character, but also that his character is an extension of himself.

The only thing Tippia ever* did wrong was bury her opponents with logic.

While I agree that some are "auto-trolls", my experience is that most posters take a stance based on the OP. I do for sure.

Look at it this way:

"This mechanic sucks! CCP failed hard. How do they expect to keep EVE alive when this happens! You need to change this CCP or I will unsub!"

OR

"I believe this mechanic is flawed. Because of A, B and C. I think it should be D"

Both will attract the HTFU, go back to WoW etc responses. But which one will also have a "I disagree, I think it should be E" response tucked in there you think?

Also; I would advise not to use this forum's search function. Grab Google and type in 4 or 5 keywords. That way you will have access to the old forum as well. If your answer isn't in here you can check those. Some answers are outdated, but those that aren't were written by folks that played a much harder version of EVE.

Oh I see.

Well, I guess, uh... um..... I have no idea. I dont really see what people do outside of game is something that affects me

Also, I kinda knew what word you meant, I was avoiding it as I find that word very distasteful, but thats just me

Your obviously talking about the forums otherwise this thread is in the wrong forum.

If you read the GD forum you could be forgiven for thinking EVE has a bad community, but to be honest I've never really seen that much evidence of that in game.

If you're the type of person that gets upset (not necessarily talking about you) with the type of comments in GD then you're better off not reading them. You would probably have a better gaming experience if you're that way inclined.

Actually GD seems fairly normal to me, where you have a PvP group and PvE group sharing the same servers.

This game is an entirely voluntary participatory media. You aren't "bullied" by an interaction you expressly agreed to. Whether you were dumb enough to realize it or not. Using that word is entirely inappropriate in a video game, that you can just turn off with the press of a button or a mouseclick, and using it in this context denigrates real victims in real life.

This internet social justice bullshit really irritates me. No, I will not dumb the game down for the sake of the weak minded and the thin skinned. No, I will not alter my behavior for the possibility of encountering a genuinely new player.

And above all else, I will not be told what to do by pansy, mealy mouthed limp wristed weaklings who are only out to cry loud enough to handcuff my freedom as a player.

"Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

Do I come off as that sensitive? I am just observant. It is a widespread view of gamers outside Eve (as well as within) that our community has a very vocal minority that encourage and live for bullying. Between the former head of the CSM encouraging members of the community to make a player commit suicide and the whole Erotica1 incident I'm surprised you don't see the same thing.

And btw, I am a member of this community and plan to be for some time. The "well if you don't like it you can leave" response is just immature.

Case in point, James 315 and the "Code". Or as I like to call it, you're not playing Eve my way, therefore you're wrong.

Yeah, the self congratulatory nonsense about how we are all so awesome to stick with this game might suit CCP to propagate, but if you think only the sharpest, fastest thinking are playing this game, you're delusional.

Your portrait is really well done, Tesla.

The current meta is quite horrible, if you can call it that. A possible conclusion would be that
the "good" people fail at being good and that's why the "bad" people have the upper hand.
And the "bad" people don't use their full potential and too many "roleplay" idiots.

And that's just one perspective!
There are so many ... and currently the most likely ones have a ****** outcome.
