Exploration Sucks

Every expansion I have seen produces the same stupid threads: "Everything is broke!" Sadly, most people don't read the patch notes or the multitude of blogs that come out saying what has changed.

Personally, I wish they would make exploration harder. The way it used to be was a mysterious little profession with closely guarded secrets. You actually had to go out and EXPLORE!

If you want consistent results and no mystery- run missions.

I agree with Jenny - probing sucks a lot, probes stenght is reduced, i got maxed skill and i cant probe signature cuz when i reduce range of probes it always disapear, and it doesent metter if i use 7 probes i got always the same this game starting to sucks more and more from day to day

Got to be your technique, or using inappropriate equipment. My skills are not maxed, and yet I never fail to be able to get a sig to 100%, given a little time.

There's lots of anger to the Op's suggestion. Lots of defensive posturing. Loosen up.

I've jumped into a wormhole system often where there were 30-40 signatures. I have maxed skills and can often scan down a signature in less than 60 seconds. What's frustrating to me is not how long it takes to scan down a signature...

What IS frustrating is having 30-40 signatures and only 1 of them is a wormhole. (The wormhole I came in through.)

I don't think it is unreasonable to ask if a signature ID like TXE-447 could give a clue about what kind of signature I'm probing down. I would like a clue that I've jumped into a dead end system.

People will say that a particular type of signature is a wormhole, or a ladar site based on its signal strength. I wish I could believe them, but I've learned through experience that this just is not true. I've scanned down dozens of sigs in a system just to have the very weakest signature be a wormhole, or a grav or mag site.

Maybe there could be specific probes that we could use that would give strong hits on a particular kind of signature?

Just throwing stuff out there.

I read the whole thread, but I still do not see that anything has changed. Can OP explain where is the problem?

The sigs may not disapear but only may be positioned outside of the spheres of the re-sized and re-positioned probes. Signatures outside of the scanning spheres are so faint that they are very hard to spot even if they are just outside.

Grab all your probes, hold shift and move the cluster up and down some distance. In most cases, the sig you are looking for is flashing back into existence when your scanning volume is passing over their position. When I started scanning I was puzzled about disapearing sigs till I noticed what happened Lol.

Not sure if this will fix your problem. Just a potential cause to be eliminated.

Agreed!

You know that you can do this by using deep space probes? You need astrometrics V and you can use dsp's to id signature types.

Check out St. Mio's amazing deep space probing guide!

DSPs will help you regain your sanity if your static WHs are on different rows to your Radar/Mag/Grav/Ladar sites:
