crucible weapon misses

anyone notice that unless you have damage notifications turned on, the weapon hit/miss effects go back to "always hit" graphic? is this intended? i only notice because i get frustrated since i cant move the damage notification window from the middle of my screen and turn it off at times.

leaving damage notification on, and unchecking all sub-options (incurred, etc) does let the crucible turret miss effects happen, but im curious about the behavior. thanks for any reply.
