Hey all I am starting a second acct to make isk and support my pvp account. Any suggestions? How is exploration compared to mining as far as making money? I am leaning toward exploration but is this just through missions or what ever i find caan be sold on the market for descent coin so to speak? Please let me know. Thanks...

Exploring: Long stretches of finding nothing which are broken up with sudden bursts of income
Mining: Slow but consistent income

If you like adventure and randomness, go for exploring. If you like consistent income, mining is better for you.

Mining is a source of consistent income, but the tradeoff is that you're not going to become filthy rich hauling rock. Exploring, on the other hand, can provide hard-to-obtain BPOs, rare named modules, and other expensive goodies, but the initial outlay is higher (for the salvager training, a decent ship with a good-sized cargohold, etc), and it depends almost entirely on luck.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

If you do it in 0.0, as highsec is saturated with Indiana Jones wannabes that won't take risks

Starting out you might consider mining and PI to develop a bankroll. As mentioned, exploration can be hit or miss...

If you have the time to put in, Jita station trading can be lucrative but you have to be really dedicated to it because there is so much competition, if you feel up to it then implants are a good place to start. If you do more casual trading, you can trade popular named modules (a lot of the beta ones are popular iirc) between regions using hub alts.

A combination of Station Trading and PI can probably make you a decent amount of low-input ISK. Of course, with trading, you can make a lot more if you play a lot more. But if you're looking to do both simultaneously (as you can do one while the other is still going), you may have to consider systems that aren't Jita.

One thing that makes a lot of difference is where your PVP guy is going to be and what he's doing.

If he's able to work in Hi Sec - then you can use both characters as a team to do a lot of things.

If he's got security standings that are shot to hell ... then that character isn't going to be able to work with your hi sec money maker.

Of course ... depending on where you are ... the money maker could conceivably go down there, it's just easier to make money in Hi Sec.

Also, you could create an alt on the same account as the PVP guy - just to haul for the miner or assist them in some way. A hauler alt in a Bestower takes hardly any training at all.

You can also run missions and then mine mission space as well. This is more important if you're solo mining as it lets you leave the jet cans sitting there with small chance of them being flipped - but you want to be in a quiet system regardless.

If you're team mining - you can just put a bookmark in a jet can to keep it open then move the ore from the miner to the jet can and take it out with the hauler. You want to have at least two tabs on your over view though - one that shows the rocks and one that doesn't. That way - you've got an open over view so you can see immediately if anything comes into your belt. If it's rats - you can launch your drones to kill them (put a salvager and tractor beam on the hauler). If it's another player - do a Look on them - then move your POV around to their stern so you can see where they're going - if they head for you can - pull the bookmark and pop it. They'll see you are alert - and as long as you don't trash talk them - will probably go off to bother someone who isn't. Once they've gone - move in case they bookmarked your spot - then jettison the bookmark to create another can and go back to mining. If they just sit there and hang around ... which I've never had one do - you can either out wait them or go somewhere else and try to lose them or just do something else.

You could also, of course - run missions. The combat skills you'll need to clear an exploration site are the same as you'll need to run missions.

And ... you don't have to just do one thing. The thing to keep in mind - is whether doing something else detracts from the training time your spending on the thing that is making you the most money.

Another factor in this - is that mining tops out (if that's all you're doing) and you can train the character to do something else, whether as an industrialist or as a mission runner.
