Actually, everyone seems to want to start discussion on PLEX. But they end up locked - for being redundant.
I cannot find an active General Discussion thread on the topic, however. The GD threads in the search engine are all locked.

Main question is this:

Can someone link to an unlocked PLEX discussion in General Discussion? If PLEX discussion threads are redundant, where is the relevant threadnought I am missing?

Personally - I think that this is the process that is occurring:

1. CCP is simply conjuring up ISK. (because they can create or destroy ISK at will)
2. Buying PLEX off the open market, using the 'free' ISK.
3. Then, trashing the ISK.

Price of PLEX is driven up, due to reduced supply. PLEX selling ISK buyers like this, as they get more ISK for their $.
Using this method, CCP earns subscription income (through PLEX sales)......WITHOUT having to provide a service (mainly server time) which has a cost.

Just my opinion, which I feel is correct.

Well played CCP. Very clever.
Conscientious, no.
Clever, yes.

Players are already doing this. Why would CCP need to?

Just one problem with this nutball conspiracy theory: higher PLEX prices does not improve CCP's income. They lose customers and/or make them transition to the (much cheaper) subscription options.

The historical trade volumes do not support the notion that higher prices lead to more people buying PLEX to sell for ISK — the volumes remain constant, which, together with the well-observed fact that more and more PLEX are being re-listed, means that if anything the actual injection number has gone down as prices increase.

Lowering your income, driving away players, and actively sabotaging your own efforts to keep price changes smooth does not strike me as either “well played” or “clever”.

Why would they buy & resell PLEX to destroy ISKs, instead of manipulating ALL major commodities on Jita (minerals, isotopes, planetary, ships)???
Manipulating PLEXs is gross, and it's the easier way to make people leave EVE ...

Yes, just a disclaimer, because if I asserted that 'CCP is doing this', it would be rumor-mongering.

Much like the Bletchley Park Tunny codebreakers deducing the existence of the German Lorenz device without ever having seen it - this is a theory, explaining a system that I believe exists - based on the evidence we are allowed to see.

CCP isn't going to willingly show us their $-making Lorenz device, after all. State secrets and all that.

The problem is that the evidence we're allowed to see all points in the exact opposite of what you think, and your hypothesis does not explain what we see in the market.

Had you actually read all those locked threads, you would have noticed a common theme: they were all locked because they said the same thing you did (so you are offering nothing new here) and because they were therefore very easily debunked and proven wrong.

This is all well and good but I prefer my weird tricks to come from Fox news. We'll know it's a problem when we hear it there.

So the theory is the CCP may be engaging in a massive effort to defraud customers which if found out would totally disrupt their business rather than the simple fact that not as many people are selling Plex as buying them currently.
