Long ago CCP mentioned they had an ultra-light command line only EVE client they used for testing. What ever happened to that? Such a lightweight application would be amazingly useful for slow machines and massive fleet fights.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

Except most of the lag EVE clients experience comes from serverside, so really it wouldn't make much of a difference at all. That's as far as I understand it anyway; could be the reason CCP have neglected to release it as it simply isn't going to make much of a splash.

That, and who wants command-line EVE? I get that we're spreadsheets online, but still.

A non-graphical client that allows station trading and contract deals and industry but is useless for PvP does sort of go against the spirit of EVE somewhat.

Don't get me wrong, I would love an android app that lets me update my Jita sells from my Galaxy but it doesn't really seem to be in the overall spirit of the game.

It's for dev / internal use only. It was never intended to be used by players.

An EvE text-based MUD?

You awaken in a room, in front of you is a small passageway leading to a balcony that looks over the docking ring; to your right there is a door.

>Go right

In front of you is a sturdy metal door. It is locked.

Hours of fun.

It will be included in the next version of ISBoxer.

The spirit of EVE being something other than logging in, tending 0.01 ISK order adjustments for a few hours, then logging off and going to bed?

And, if what I've read is accurate: It's not an eve client, without graphics.

It's pretty much just a dumb program which sends scripts of commands to the server. So pretty much useless for anything but testing. Smile

SPREADSHEETS!

Don't need the 'in space' part Blink

On a light note, I'm sure Chribba would approve!!
