Idiot! It's *your* government that's trying to censor your access to the internet. Think about it:

The Americans pass an onerous copyright "protection" bill. Your country calls it censorship, infringement of free trade, and a trampling of freedoms. Your country then starts running its own DNS root servers and fragments the internet. Eventually, every country declares its own root servers, firewalls, etc., until all your internet traffic goes through your government's servers.

*presto* Every government now has the ability to throttle, censor and eavesdrop on its citizens' emails, chats, VOIP calls, cell phones, and can otherwise track everything you purchase or download via the internet.

This bill theoretically will implode the internet. We're all going to suffer from it, not just Americans.

This is something like China did. This is scary. US gov wants this passed and whilst offering subpar powers to abuse the bill aswell. Not good, it's a freedom killer.

Whomever supports these net-neutrality killers should feel sorely ashamed.

For all this talk about freedom and oppression, people lose sight of the bigger picture: bills such as these are intended to help the hardworking, honest citizens live their lives in comfort. All of the criminals are quick to grab their pitchforks when their way of life is endangered. After all, how will they now be able to steal movies, music, games, and share their child pornography?

At the end of the day, we live in a democracy. That means that the people in power could very well come from the same walks of life that we, normal people, do. The anarchists are loathe to admit this, but our government exists to serve and protect us, and works in our best interests. We have cops on the street who ensure the safety of our property and selves; why shouldn't the Internet be policed in a similar manner? You can't walk into a store and steal an apple. Why should you be able to walk into a website and steal a movie?

Also, this bill would close a lot of potential doors used by terrorists to recruit and plan attacks. Just look at Al Jazeera. They have a website, and even a satellite channel now. Pretty much anyone can go there and be exposed to their propaganda and become a terrorist, and it's all due to a lack of control on our part. I think it's time to wake up and face the facts: our government is trying to protect us from the evils of the world on a limited budget, and instead of helping them do this, we bicker over our "right" to shoplift a bunch of Rebecca Black songs from iTunes.

You should all be ashamed.

Keep in mind this wont stop the people who are downloading illegal files and games/programs. It will just stop the common people from using sites like youtube, or that guy with the glasses, blistered thumbs, and other review sites, or media outlets that can't afford to keep there members under thumb 24/7. It will allow the Media (TV, Movie and Music industry) decide what can and can't be online and even go as far as to block funding from ads and donations to sites that might show something like a preview or even illegal copys of files, this includes youtube. Allowing this to pass will not only hurt the net as a whole, at least from a US perspective, but will also pave the way for other country's to follow in our footsteps.

While I may not be an American I use your internet, access your sites, etc, etc

I strongly urge all Americans who care about freedom and democracy to stand up and speak out. Send a letter, an email, contact your member of congress.
