Due to a lack of interest in Eve which has been happening over an extended period of time I am finding myself less committed to the game as a whole and have had periods of not logging in due to playing other games. As a result I am not giving it the time I need to make Hub Zero a success, therefore I will step down as leader of Hub Zero and hand the reins over to Aaron. I will still keep my accounts subbed and will still be around for when I am needed, I wish Aaron all the best in taking Hub Zero to the next level.

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

I've enjoyed reading your posts in this thread. Hopefully it won't be long before CCP releases the killer content that gets people back in the game.
Best of luck to you in the meanwhile.

Hello People,

I'd like to thank Dracvlad for his hard work as he was instrumental in getting us to the stage we are at now. Drac has supported us very well and will still be involved in helping us move forward. Drac and I felt it best that I should lead the way in developing a strategy which will ensure the Hub Zero community are safe and have the ability to earn. I will endeavor to plan and execute resource gathering and PVP operations with military precision.

The main goal of Hub Zero is providing a place for cool pilots to dwell in 0.0 without having to join a Sov 0.0 corp/alliance and giving the pilots of Eve an alternative, We also want to create an economy that will give us an opportunity to supply whatever demands there are in trade.

Things are going reasonably well out here, the guys are earning money and we are still dealing with campers. There are a few fleet commanders here who are actually very good at their job. I've been on a few roams with the guys and it was a pleasure to be part of their fleet.

We are still looking for pilots to join us and help us achieve our goals, feel free to contact myself or Dracvlad if you have any queries or you plan on coming here.

Regards

I had a pretty cool day today, I decided to fly further up the pipe to chill with some of the residents doing some missions and I had lots of fun. I got into a few conversations on comms and it seems even newer players are here doing their thing which is great.

Hub Zero has survived and all of the people who posted here that it would not work are wrong because we are still moving forward and this is an achievement. Everyone involved in Hub Zero should be commended on their ability to HTFU and just deal with it.

Now I'd like to talk to all you rich traders about investing some money here as there is lots of opportunity to make some isk and be part of this. I can promise you good sales because myself and the other leaders here will do everything we can to get solo players and corps/alliances here and as long as we keep doing that there will always be demand.

My general vision is to create a mini jita right here where there will be lots of demanding and supplying supported by regular carrier and JF runs to Jita. If you do intend to bring lots of stuff here to sell then it would be best to contact us so that we can inform the community to set you blue which will ensure you get to us safely. I know lots of you will be skeptical and think this is about ganking you, I can assure you this is not a scam and you should take the time to come on comms and get to know us.

So, all you guys that thought this wouldn't work, what do you have to say now? Cool

Just to be clear, no I am not leaving Eve, no I am not leaving 6Y-0TW, also I am busy training up my trading orders on two toons and then will stock the market with modules and rigs. I just donated a number of ships for Hub Zero members to PvP.

I brought myself a gaming rig to play certain other games, however I am keeping my previous PC to play or not play Eve (not playing Eve is based on the logging in and leaving it logged in to do the same back to the cloaky AFK campers.) They never know when I will be active. As far as I am concerned to be a leader you have to be very active in Eve, however it was clear to me that I was not on or active when the majority of the people were on, so there was no way that I could lead Hub Zero on that basis.

Shiloh Templeton, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.

Last week I went after one of the NCDOT. linked guys in an Apoc, as luck would have it as soon as I got into the site my wife rang, so I burnt away from it thinking no issue as it would get out of range of the pulse lasars, however he MJD'd and blew up my Enyo, which was smartly done and kinda amusing, I was alerted by the armour warning but was unable to get the ship out in time, but smart play by the enemy. So I decided to play station games and up the stakes, however I then got a phone call from my daughter on the way to a university interview that her boyfriends car had broken down while I was in the middle of an engagement and about to go for it, so I had to disengage, which I managed to do with my second account in very low armour when he docked..., after that a 2 hour drive and I managed to get her there 15 minutes late but we had managed to tell them that we would be a bit late and they were OK with it based on the circumstances.

Since that time I have not really done much in Eve apart from log in and talk to people, but I have now set myself a couple of personal objectives which should push me to actually play a bit, we shall see...

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

I feel I must withdraw my support for this venture.

It has been over seven months and the leadership of Hub Zero 2.0 seem to be unable to get past the planning stage. This thread has become a very dull blog with little discussion. I am not surprised that Draclad has lost interest in Eve. Nothing seems to be happening.

My advice to those of you thinking of leaving high-sec for NPC 0.0 is to either join an active group, or form your own group and just go for it! It isn't difficult to get set up and running, and there really are good opportunities to make ISK and experience PvP.

I find myself spending lots of time with the members further up the pipe and I'm having some good times.

Yesterday we were involved in a good pvp match and had lots of fun. The general idea was for us to engage the enemy in 8KQR we also had the element of suprise and called on some friends of ours to standby 1 jump away. We kicked off the fighting and warped to the 8KQR gate in F9, at this point the enemy tried to run and we caught one of their domi's in 8K and we engaged.

Our friends joined us and we were all doing damage on the domi, our opponents managed to call a few more friends and unfortunately we lost a Proteus, Rapier, thorax and a rook belonging to our friends. the fleet commander instructed us to allign out and we held the align long enough to take out the domi.

Aside from the losses we had great fun and some of the guys learned a bit about being in a pvp fleet, I feel confident that on our next engagement we will be more organised.

I'll try my best to keep the PVP updates going as well as drac did as I know how some of you like this. Big smile

Edit: Thanks to Southern Citizens for taking pvp back to the old school and not deploying caps or blops, Would be great if we could keep it that way and have lots of fun.

I seeded the market in 6Y-0TW II - Moon 5 - True Creations Shipyard, I was waiting to get my sell orders up to a reasonable level so that I could put a full range of T2 modules up, more items will be added subject to training requirements.

I didn't read all 30+ pages of this thread before posting this, so sorry if this was posted before, but for reference, here was his rant from the old forums post when he freaked out and shut this whole thing down back in 09. His meltdown can be found in the link below, but I also quoted it for you:

http://www.eve-search.com/thread/1125673-0/page/17

"After carful consideration I decided to close down Hub Zero, My reasons for doing this is that people are selfish and i feel this can never change.

Everyone wants to have their own way like big babies, and when they dont get their own way they start to act like spoilt children. Some people just cant MAN UP and exept other people have different views from them.

To the people i fell out with, thanks and well done, uve destroyed the very foundation of Hub Zero, by creating bad vibes, and creating cliques among us, I hope ur happy with urself.

I know theres still a number of ships down here, Im happy to take them back to sagain, if the fuel cost is met by yourselves. to all that have assigned ships to rasta i will contract them back to u.

Please do not ask anything of me if u still come down and try to make a living here.

I will not aggro anyone known to me.

Thanks to all the supportive people, who are cool and easygoing. we tried but it never worked.

to the corp CEO, and alliance leaders, i take my hat of to you, you have a hard job managing people.

Good Luck and fly safe o/"

This whole Utopian "Hub Zero" thing is basically what happens WHEN (not if) socialism/communism inevitably fails in the end.

Pay attention to these parts:

"After carful consideration I decided to close down Hub Zero, My reasons for doing this is that people are selfish and i feel this can never change."

"Everyone wants to have their own way like big babies, and when they dont get their own way they start to act like spoilt children. Some people just cant MAN UP and exept other people have different views from them."

The reason this whole Utopian thing never works in EVE (or real life) is because it never factors in human nature of striving to achieve more. Call it a goal, call it greed, call it incentive, call it whatever you want. But it always ends up this way. Human beings want more. If there is no incentive for striving to achieve more, then there is no point in striving to achieve. It's the old "If everyone was paid like a janitor then no one would want to be doctors". Sure, you'd always have that small minority of people who would volunteer for free just for the sake of feeling good and helping and doing it, but even those people will eventually wear thin, and would never be enough to support the "utopia" in the long term anyway.

The only difference is in EVE there are no Gulags.

Edit: Here is another thread of him freaking out. He is a very unstable individual:

There have been some significant societal changes since the last attempt. Making the concept more possible now. I can go on for hours about what those changes are and how they effect the game. Heck even the highsec ganking crowd is showing stewardship for the game and other players.

(possibly a sign of the apocalypse so best get to drinking up that beer and lie on the floor if you think it will help)

I'm feeling very positive at the moment, we now have a powerful, isk friendly fleet doctrine that even low skill point players can be involved in. I can't wait to organize and execute this fleet. Eve is so cool.

Now I have to give these guys my full support because you are an idiot. Cry

I call a spade a spade. Its not name calling to point out your stupidity is to the levels of the willingly ignorant.

Either. Point to a place on the map of Earth that doesn't have capitalism as its basic economic structure and is a successful, flourishing first world country that one would want to call home. One that runs purely off of socialism or communism. Once again, I'll wait.
