Who is "Al" and why is he hailing PLEX?

... grabs a pint, puts on the shades, and lies back on a heap of Thulium to work on the tan until PLEX hits 1bil... Cool

i keep seeing post like this "oh plexs cost to much" "its not fair i cant afford to plex my account this month" ect ect.

The simple fact is when you buy a plex from the market to pay your sub fee some else paid real $$$ for it.

eves economy is almost entirely play run and the price of plex is no different its all about supply and demand. so many people want to play for free and not pay sub fees the people who are willing to buy plexs for $$$ and subsidize ur $$$ fee complaining plex prices are to high on the forums is to put it blunt is ridiculous its there asset to "try" and sell at a price there happy with, complaining plex prices are to high on the forums is to put it blunt is ridiculous.

the reason plex prices are this high is because thats how much the avrage plex user is willing to spend if nobody was buying them at this price there would be no demand and the price would fall.

TBH i would be happy paying 1-2 Bil on a plex i can make 100 mil a hour killing npcs not to mention other money making adventures such as PI, playing the market data/relic sites and faction loot

as it currently stands, at 800 mil i need to farm npc's for a total of 8 hours in a month to cover my sub costs not to bad to cover the sub fee i would need to pay otherwise

1-2bil @ 100mil an hour is 10-20 hours work to pay for a subscription. Get a part-time job at McDonals for 5 hours a week. you'll buy a subscription ins 1-2 hours and then walk away with enough cash for another 4 plex. 20 hours a month work and you get the current equivilent of 200 hours hard grind in Eve.

Why don't people understand opportunity cost?!

I'm implying if you spend 20hours a month feeding an Eve subscription because you can't afford to play it otherwise, you could make that small amount of cash some other way. 2x plex costs $34.99. that means $17.50 per plex, that means 1million is costs less than $0.03. So you're essentially being payed around $2.20 an hour for your eve gains.

It can't be that hard to justify 2 hours of overtime a month.

oh no, i get it. it makes vastly more sense to spend an extra 2 hours of time in the office than trying to earn isk to plex an account.

however that doesn't change the fact that even if some one wants to do 2 hours of overtime, doesn't mean that there's 2 hours of overtime for them to do.
level 4 missions, mining, incursions, etc will always be there when you log in (maybe not incursions), but extra overtime at work might be intermittent and rare.

I don't know, I play the game for a month, and I end up with enough isk for my needs, including a plex. Why would I want to work 2 hours overtime in this case?

If you inherently get pleasure from grinding isk and that's all you do, then buy Plex. Essentially all your doing is making isk and
spending it to keep your account running to make isk to keep your account running.

It's a cycle, but if you enjoy the status quo (e.g. not saving up for new ships, more toon, etc.) then i suppose it's perfect for you.

I understand. It's just normal that most activities in eve cost cash instead of creating it. I'd say you are the exception rather than the rule.

your argument is flawed yes i make isk to spend isk on plex a nasty cycle but the fact i can make all the isk required for the said plex in a few hours leaves the rest of the month to make a profit and lose ships in glorious pvp

TBH if i was going out in t2 ships once or twice a day and getting them blown up then yes i prolly would have to spend real$$$ to sub my account rather than plex it but i play within my means if i cant afford to lose it i dont fly it.

oh and BTW im self employed accountant dont need no extra funds cooking you ya bigmac

My overtime invovles a kevlar vest and domestic violence calls. So you think 2 hours of that is better than the 14 or so hours (over the course of a month) I spend casually doing pve (in faction warfare, or lvl 5s, a bit longer if doing high sec incursions) while butt ass naked and drunk at home to plex 4 accounts?

Hint: Butt ass naked and drunk trumps any time savings one might gain from working OT.
