Alright guys. No need to start an argument over it. I got holiday now and has already made great progress today.

The reason why it has been drawn so much out is because I didn't manage to get it done before I got really busy in May and June. The production has been slow in May and completely absent here in June, but is being resumed now.

To clarify some more things. I have asked Zaqq about help but he has been busy with his own projects to it has mostly been advice I have received from him (which has also been really great). However I have also talked with El Geo and outsourced the intro to him. He is busy too (see the pattern?) so it is WIP as well.

I dont understand mate. Im confused. Your youtube channel has 4 seperate pvp video productions since OMC was announced, and they are all pretty good. How is it possible to be so productive?

Its called wait for it : Super editing skills!

Ahh no, the first video took me 12 hours to make, and the rest roughly 8ish! But i get what you are hinting in, but you gotta remember I shot all those videos - sure I had to watch them to get the timing right with the video but not half as much work as Miz has :P

Hey guys

I need your opinion on something important. The situation is that I am still busy and spends most of my spare time on the project. So Iā€™m at the point where I'm burned out and got little time for the project. Yet there is still much to do. There are 8 fights that are done, and the remaining 7 are still somewhere in the process. For most of the remaining fights Iā€™m stuck at matching them with good music and editing the playback speed. Now this do indeed sound very simple but it isn't. All fights should have matching music that follows the pace of the fight and give it a nice feel. Likewise the playback speed should be adjusted throughout the fights so they keep up a good pace but the details aren't lost. This is a process that is done through trial and error and takes up much time.

I know that the wait time have been really long and it pains me that it draws out so much. I got an idea but I want your opinion first.

I could announce the winners and release the 8 fights that are done with each fight being released in separate videos and then release the remaining one by one when I get them done. And when they are all done then edit them into the final video. I know this is sub optimal as it kind of ruins the excitement that the fully finished video would have but given the situation then it may be worth going on compromise on that.

This does also mean that I will abolish rule number 9 and allow everyone to publish their fights including the ones that are yet to be edited and released. Likewise it opens up for the possibility to crowd source some of the remaining editing by giving people a chance to edit the playback speed and match music with the remaining fights using the released ones as guidance. If some of the suggestions are suitable they will be used and I will do the rest of the editing (commentary, killcounter and so on).

So what is the opinion about this idea?

Release what you got so far, announce winners, give out awards, let people publish their videos.

Do em one at a time then finally drop full video when you can.

The fact that I'm waiting to make a video with certain footage has absolutely no bearing on my decision here.

Noap.

None at all. ;)

That's a hard call Miz.
The patience for some people is running out, but there are plenty of other people who'd like to see it finished in a complete video. I wouldn't mind if you release it per fight at first, but I wouldn't mind waiting for the end result either.

Do what feels good for you, don't listen to all the negativity around the project. It's your video after all!

i prefer that u release the complete video so i suggest that u ask help from other editors that u trust and that way the problem will be solved :)

I have already asked Zaqq and El Geo who are both very talented video editors who use Adobe After Effects. Zaqq is too busy with his own projects but I got El Geo to make the intro which is in progress, but he is not sure if he can finish it as he is busy as well.

I am open to suggestions, but bear in mind that the project is done in Adobe After Effects (which in my mind is the best program) while most use Sony Vegas or other programs. Likewise the editors should also have experience with editing and know how to present a fight well.

But so far. Thanks for the input guys.

Announce the winners to build tension (Give out the isk, more important part =D) and release it as a full video. Keep rule 9 though.

Also we should talk or something for the editing part, I can help you with the music choices. My library is pretty good =D

A lot of the excitement has probably been lost (how many expansions have passed?) and some fights may no longer be relevant. Announce the winners, release what you have in 2 chunks (completed and work in progress), don't burn out, and build excitement back up for the second half with the first.

Release all the fights together, unedited, or barely edited.

To me, I want to see the fights. If I want music I will turn on my music player as I watch the video, if I want effects I will light a sparkler next to me as I watch.

These fights are, considering the Honorable Mentions video, the best of the best. As a newbie, with fights at 4x speed, I find it extremely difficult to follow, because I want to know EVERY single action the pilot is performing, from a double-click to manually move the ship, to the activation of which modules at which time.

This may result in the video being obscenely long if fights aren't sped up adequately, but personally I don't mind. If this is a problem because of uploading though, then it's your call.

Once again, I'm here for what's underneath all the shiny effects. I won't think any less of any of the editors if they aren't present when the video is released. I only care for the fights, and that their place in a video of great solo PvP, determined by a good panel of judges, is justified.

DHB_Wildcat, are34, Guados, Clahim, rekina, Daneel Trevize, Buhhdust Princess, Garmon, Aldap. You have all of these people on your team, most of them have made pvp videos. Why are you even feeling the need to ask for crowd source help.

This! Release it in 2 part. You have half of the fights done. Build up tension for the 2d part. This Would make it 2 videos without making them too long. And you can always combine them afterwards.

Thanks for your reply guys.

@BoG: If I understand you correctly I should announce the winners now and then only release the fights when the video is done? I think this will create more problems than solve. Once the winners are announced people want to see their fights. And it will not solve the main problem: it is going to take ages before I can deliver a fully done video.

@Kor: Yeah, I get the feeling that no matter what I do I have failed. It has been drawn out too much and now its just a matter of salvaging what excitement there is left.

@Revileushin: The HM video was made to show as many fights as possible. The main video will be editing entirely differently. I have put much effort into presenting the fights in a best possible way with playback speeds that vary throughout the fight so the important details aren't lost but the fight isn't painfully long to watch. I have intended the video to reach out to both hardcore solo fans but also other eve players who might get bored if its going too slow as they do not understand all the small details.

@Duckslayer: That's what I thought as well. However the problem is that it has pretty much been only Aldap, Daneel and I who has been working on the editing. And all 3 of us are busy in RL as well. I'm not going to say anything bad about the remaining judges after all they did what they signed up for (atleast most of them, Prom and Garmon were both hindered by RL). So basically it was me who carried a majority of the workload and responsibility and everything collapsed.

Should be doable. I will consider it. But should I only announce half of the winners with the first part?

I'd suggest announce all winners, release 2 videos now (I may not have been clear in my OP), one finished and one mostly done, polish the second and rerelease it later, no time pressure.

You bit off a attacked more than expected (especially with the time extension) and your reinforcements got bubbled 2 jumps out. It's no fun, but it happens. Do what you can now, polish the last half later and don't burn out. Get back to playing the game a bit, rumor is if you undock sometimes it can be fun.
