There is giant "Like and get likes" thread in "Out of pod" section - there people talk nicely and gift thousands of internet points to each other.
They gift more than that, the LAGL monocle changed hands several times before someone absconded with it, and a carrier was handed out to the first person who hit a certain amount of likes.

I was given a pile of cheap ships and some ISK as a newbie, I've paid it forward several times to newbies, asking that they do the same for someone else in the future.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Someone gave me a stabber Krusual edittioni a while ago. And a couple of years ago someone donated like 10b because he was quiting.

I usually send a bit of money when people take a kill without complaining. And a couple of years I've given away frigs, cruisers, and meta 3 mods on Christmas eve in Ammold. CCP, this is why I want a Santa hat in the NeX store.

Just after returning to Eve again I started chatting to some random folk in low sec while mission running, one guy stuck a bounty on my head and gave me 10mil because he liked the banter but couldn't "just give me isk, that'd be too nice"

I'm usually quite pleasantly surprised who I meet while dottering about, as the OP says, all you hear on the forums is "this person was soo mean to me, waaah Eve is too hard *tears*".

Sometimes I wonder if there is folk who just inhabit the forums but don't actually play, moaning that Eves just too harsh Roll

The truth is MOST of the people who play this game are really very nice and extremely helpful.

Oh, they'll gank you and laugh and collect your tears in a plastic baggie. Yeah.

But they're nice.

Bring your possibles.

When this pilot was new in 2010, about less than 250K SP, a random pilot wandering the newbie space gave me about 10M ISK. I still have her added to contacts today. Still the only reason I'm still in it was because I had the ISK buffer to get more ships to play with to learn the game.

I had been playing EVE maybe 2-3 weeks. I was pecking away at some Veldspar using an industrial, this was way before Ventures came along. All of a sudden... whoosh!!! Rawr!!! bright orange beams from a Hulk, didn't know at the time what one was, shot over my nooblet head. Scared the **** out of me at first. I then convoed the pilot of the ship asking what kind of ship he was flying. He told me then proceeded for a few cycles of mining some ore for me. I would eventually have a Hulk of my own, but now I have forever left the carebear way of life behind.

Uhm

NO

Before the Venture the way to mine was using racial frigates bonused to mining (ooh, good old Bantam mining).
If you mined with an industrial you were just doing it wrong.

Way back machine time, before that was standard frigates. Then Ospreys and Thorax's were king of mining... Everyone wanted a BS to mine with up to 8 Miner 2's.

Good things happen in EVE, just not often. Big smile

I know this describes me. If I can explode you, I will - and I will laugh my head off when you rage :-)

But I'm never unkind to anyone. There is a WORLD of difference between playing a "bad guy" / "pirate" in a video game and BEING a "bad guy" in the real world.

The simple fact that such a large number of players seem totally unable to grasp this simple concept makes me a sad panda :-(

I hate you all and you WILL die!

Eventually!

Until then I'll hug you, squeeze you, caress you, kiss you, ... ;)

Then you die.

Last Christmas a total random individual I never spoke too asked in a random system local chat if someone wanted a Christmas present...

I answered yes just before jumping the next gate on my route.

I then got a contract for a free Phantasm! Best Christmas gift ever! It got SPIKE! Big smile

Sadly this Phantasm is already blased to bits... (Died to a Megathron)

Then I send a mail to my benefactor with all the killmail the phantasm went through! (Including the killmail of the Megathron, which died promtly after me Twisted )

One player used my one and only legitimate ISK halving service. We both profitted. He was profesionally serviced and felt good about it and I got ISK.

Whenever I get BPC's from data/relic sites, I usually just give them away to whoever is in the system. Also, I tend to sell whatever I find from them, or loot from combat sites/escalations at vastly lower prices at my corporation's namesake for the benefit of those that live in the North Forge.

I often reimburse new players if I've killed them, providing they don't rage. More appreciation of good sportsmanship and a willingness to fight than kindness.

Shortly into my career, I was too impatient to keep mining to get money for a Mining Barge so I asked for a loan and got trolled for it. I then was given 100mil (out of pity it seemed) to invest in some equipment. It took me a while after but I did repay my debt even though they said I did not have to.

There was also this one time where a newbie was mining with two mining drones and he warped off without them. When he returned, I gave him two of my backup Hob I and two Hob II from my bay. I then proceeded to convince him that mining drones were practically useless.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

During the EVE Down Under PVP tournament last year where I honoured the goon tradition of losing in the first round, I noticed that the rookie system we used was full of Exhumers sucking up all of the tiny amounts of ore available. This isn't really a new thing that I noticed, it was happening when I started playing EVE many years ago. This started a monthly tradition for me where I visit each rookie system with a ganking dude & destroy the Exhumers of these despicable people. New players should have the opportunity to try out EVE's most boring, yet most needed profession without having to travel all over the place.

This is my random act of kindness to people.

I've been known to drop a random 100mil on confirmed, actual newbies. It's always the ones who have a good outlook on EVE, and seem like they'll stick around.

About a week ago, I dropped a Tengu hull on some guy who made a passing remark about just finishing his -gu skills, but not being able to afford the ship. It was cluttering my Jita hanger, and I never go to Jita.

Last I heard, he's still puttering around in it.

I recommend everyone chill in Help at times, find newbies with good attitudes, and drop piles of ISK on them. It's an old tradition that's sadly dying out among the general EVE population. I hear Goons still do it to their newbees, for being cute.
