One tip for the Rookie Pilot - Get a Perma-Target Locking Mouse.

The trick is for those who have a Mouse Wheel that can be clicked. Set your Mouse Wheel Click to be your targeting shortcut instead of Ctrl. When you press the Mouse Wheel it locks your targeting computer in perma lock where you just have to click any target on the HUD.

No more Ctrl select or right click lock.

Gear Head makes such a mouse.

Your lock times will improve by 1000%
