NOS on NPCs

I got a Prophecy for just something different to mission in from time to time, and tried it out tonight with a Meta 4 energy vamp equipped to it. I kept a cruiser sized NPC alive while running the mission, and though I should've been cap stable, I was not seeming to get anything from the cruiser and had to shut off my AB, lasers, and Tracking Computer to let it regen (used up my cap boosters, to my surprise), letting the drones do their thing.

So am I right in assuming energy vamps don't do squat to NPCs anymore? I know Neuts don't, because lol, infinite cap.

NOS and Neuts work on NPC's but the effect is limited. You have a chance to disrupt their armor rep cycle. Of course this is not worth it since you're better off shooting them.

NPC's used to have "Unlimited cap" but CCP fixed this. You were able to stick a heavy vamp on a frigate and get full cap. Now they only give a certain amount of cap. I'm not sure if this amount compares to a real player ship but it's not endless.

Are you sure about that? AFAIK they simply changed the comparison formula from relative to absolute values.

That means you can still draw unlimited cap, as long as you pull from a target that has a large capacitor (i.e. your size or bigger).
I.e. in order to draw continously from a frigate, your capacitor has to be really empty, while your NOS would work on a battleship, even when your cap is full.

NPC's have really bad total cap. There stats are out there but a battleship to battleship your max cap will be a lot higher than theres. Also they cheat like its going out of style.

that's a blood raider battleship it has 5000 total cap. A domi has 6000 base cap before skills.

thus you need to pull from one class above yours to nos with any real effect.

Found this with Google... I don't bother using cap drain for missions because I'd rather kill them :)

The nos is just there to fill the empty high slot. So next time Nos the battleship and kill the battlecruisers and cruisers first, since that really reduced the incoming damage to the Prophecy a -lot- faster than focusing battleships.

i remember when you could suck energy out of -everything- in a mission.

asteroid, bases, wrecks.

was good times.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.
