also, geckos are pretty nice on carriers, or so people insist on. and with renters being what they are, they will buy them regardless of price and keep losing them by the dozen.

i haven't really seen them on pvp outside of small gangs using EOS as the main PEWPEW, and in those cases they hardly die. as 2 geckos + 1 augmented berserker have a similar DPS to a full augmented heavy wing, but their optimal and alpha is ludicrous. and will get even more ******** once CCP gets to fixing the omnilinks. add to that 2x navs and they move around at 5kms. they are monsters, and yes the EOS bonus does apply to them.

outside of EOS I've seen them on some solo prophecies and myrms, but they kinda suck when engaging anything smaller than a bc, and even then you usually regret using 50m3 of space on one drone instead of another wing of meds. once it sinks in, or prices rise enough, people will stop using them.

on incursions augmented lights are better and cheaper on unbonussed ships in VGs, and HQs still prefer sentries or lights depending on the bunny. same with lvl4s, the damage the ship does just doesn't offset travel time on drone boats considering augmented heavies are available. and on unbonussed hulls warriors or augmented hobgoblins are far better at killing frigates.

i have about 250ish and keep buying them for my personal use because i consider them cheap still, yet i haven't used one yet. :p

my guess is, provided CCP doesn't add more of them later, they will go the way of the harvester drones once renters realize that ratting on a BS or T3 hull with assigned drones not only its more efficient, it will usually not end with them being publicly ridiculed. just like it happens now with harvesters, they will be definitely better than the other tools for the job, but so expensive and niche that noone will be using them.

to be honest, i would like a new line up of racial 50mb drones to be added to the game. even if it negatively impacts on the Gecko prices, 50mb drones add some variation to drone selection.

Even if only half of active accounts claimed their geckos, that would mean there we're roughly 2 million introduced into the game. With that amount out there, even if 100 geckos we're lost every day it would take about 27 years for the total amount of geckos to be halved. That means then market would still theoretically be flooded decades after geckos we're introduced, especially considering the 100 lost per day estimate is generous with the huge amount of bandwidth they use and the buff to other drones.

Of course none of this matters if some trillionaire decides to buy up a huge portion of them and artificially increase their value...

have to assume they have a cap of 50ish million at that point, they will slowly rise as they become a collectors item and will rarely be used, except in a a few key spots.

Hopefully they do get occasionally released since they are ACTUALY FREAKING USEFUL>

The concept of a good heavy drone for low skill characters was good but the cost is now too high for this to be practically useful. I would like to see another release (or blueprints) for this item.
