I belive it was back in 2008. Barly had started the game and was invited to null sec. The guys taugth me to keep an eye out on local, so I did. Me and my noob 2 months old dominix was ratting when a russian scout entered the system. I panicked and warped to a gate instead of the safe pos. Beeing well taugth i thougth cloaking would be enugh. But the damn russian started typing in local, and not long after he was on grid , burning back and forth to try and uncloak me. It did'nt take him long, and soon his Whole fleet was unpon me. I learned alot that day :P

Tried stealing loot from a ganked industrial... in an industrial. I think you can figure out how that went for me, but it was worth trying.

I lost a thorax years ago trying to save a "friend" who bailed as soon as the person switched targets to me.

I really didn't understand fittings, ammo types or pvp at all (I probably still don't tbh) and promptly got popped when my mate ran.

Turns out I also didn't understand aggro timers back then either ( I do now ) because when I undocked a few mins after buying a Myrm with nothing fitted to it, I ended up with my second pvp loss as the same person warped to station and blew me up.

Had a good chuckle about that in local and put it up as a learning experience, docked again and went and read up about timers Roll

The FC jumped us into a gatecamp in lowsec due to a miscommunication with the scout, and ordered everyone to scatter. Expecting this order I was sitting with my finger on the warp button, but got pointed along with the FC's drake and my little catalyst died fast. The rest of the fleet made it.

On that day I learned that when your FC jumps you into a gatecamp, don't be the first to decloak.

Ratting in a belt in lowsec when I was about a month old. Dude appeared while I was just looting a wreck, pointed me and started in on me, I tried to defend myself, but just wasnt to be.

Next couple of losses were the same.

About a month after I started playing, I became active with the local Minmatar RP community, called PRM (which eventually became Ushra'Khan). Much of what we did was fighting the CVA (which was only a coalition of corporations at the time), but we also spent a lot of time fighting pirate players in low sec Molden Heath. I was tackling one of those pirates with a Slasher, he was in a Tempest fitted with 1400mm arties. Even my close high speed orbit wasn't enough to avoid the wrecking shot and I got instapopped by one of the guns.

After that I started flying Torpedo Ruptures, never did get around to cruise missiles before the change.

back in 04 when alliance wars first went legal.

was in the curse alliance and celest apoc decced us.

went out in my first apoc. sniping fit, sat on some empire gate somewhere and waited!

jazz bo warps into gate in his thorax, i opened up, and he just got out in hull.

so i just sat there feeling all pleased with myself-liking all this pvp stuff- when next thing jazz turns up a couple k from me with father lazarou and shadowthorne and handed my my arse.

Back in '09 I lost a Mammoth to a disco Raven in Seil.

I was helping a friend move his ice out of the belt and this guy popped in and killed a Retriever, 2 Mackinaws and an Epithal as well as my Mammoth. He took 2 pods as well.

I remember sitting there wondering wth happened.

Back in '06 ratting in low sec in a thrasher, a 3 or 4 year old guy in a big, well known 0.0 entity killed me with a vexor. Few years later, my alliance destroyed his.

Lost a Vexor about two months after I started playing because I though it would be smart to engage an ore thief with a smartbomb. In high sec.

My first PvP loss? I managed to blow up my hauler alt with my miner. That was 2 weeks in game.

About a month later the first Retriever I bought went boom to Immortalis Inc. I did leaarn a lot back then and had a nice chat with the ganker Smile.

It was way back in the days you could pack massive drone firepower into a Myrmidon.

I'd rat in low sec with the confidence that only comes from a relative newb with 5 heavies in the drone bay.

It was a misplaced confidence.

To my credit, I lasted a few days before I lost the first one. There were many after that as even with the guaranteed loss of a Myrm every few days, I still made more ISK than I lost. Those were great days. Lots of adrenaline spikes and making money to boot.

WarDec Ambush, lost my Navy Issue Scorpion.
Back then they only cost half of what they do now and so did the fittings, but it was still a big loss for me at the time.

The Corp. tried to send people to help, but they were to late and I went kaboom, I got away in my pod though.
I was not happy at the time, the ship is my favorite hull design, it had a great newbie fit and I was able to do most level 4 missions, it took me weeks to recover from it due to constant new wardecs, I had to leave the Corp. to be able to gain isk again.

Good times =P Hated it at the time, but who doesn't hate their first loss? =)

I miss having ISK.

A few months back about 3 weeks into the game I thought that I would try PvP, so I got my new (And at the time, expensive) Cormorant and went to a lowsec belt and waited for an opponent, a Loki warped in. Being a noob, I took a moment to look up the ship's stats to see if I wanted to engage it, then I see a flash behind my internet window. No more Cormorant :(

When I was about 7 days old, I went to lowsec to rat in a Thrasher, fully aware that it is a "PvP zone" and other players may randomly attack me. Luckily (or, rather not), I didn't hit an instalocking 20-man gatecamp or anything of the kind. Instead, I went to a belt and ratted for a while, then, a frigate bracket appeared on my overview and started yellowboxing. As it was a "PvP zone", I decided not to wait and shot him. It was a Vengeance.

Still (because I had no idea that my shitfit Thrasher had a snowball chance in Hek against an experienced player in an assault frigate, that was before the dessie RoF buff) I lost that engagement with a feeling that it was a "almost fair fight".
