Not going to happen, but keep dreaming

Economics 101 says otherwise.
There will be a point at where in-game plex sales slow down. Stocks of plex climb, prices crash.
What this high is, no one knows. But it's there.

Not if eve suddenly dies before anyone realizes it.

But people on GENERAL DISCUSSION have seen it coming for years, right?

I can not see any benefit to CCP in lower plex prices.

Lower plex prices = higher player sub count = better corporate stability for CCP
Even if CCP is making the exact same revenue in lets say August, with either 500,000 accounts and high plex prices resulting in people buying plex to hoard/invest, or 600,000 accounts and lower plex prices, it's still better business for eve to have the higher player count because it's good for publicity. The higher the total player count, the more people will be attracted to the game, and the more people that will continue playing the game. Additionally, getting more people on board with subs will ensure that there is ongoing longer term demand for subs, as opposed to a whole pile of money going into an investment bubble, that will eventually run out, leaving not only a pile of players with potentially big isk losses, but will see CCP having to downsize, having based their income on false revenue.

The thing is, from the way people are talking, you would think there would be a sharp increase in the number of transactions.
That isnt the case.

It is true that, say, if plex hit 1bn, more people would think "Hey, £15 for 1bn is quite a good exchange", and start swapping RL cash for plex, which would then lead to more plex being listed, which would reduce the price, which would then mean the price dropped below that which people considered good value, so then the price would rise again.

This is the last 8 months of plex sales.
OMG THE PLEX

As a cash paying subscriber no further discount has been offered to us in 2 years at least, so the huge increase in plex prices is just profit, so it might as well be at 500 million instead of 800 million. Roll

He's right though, property investors are actually doing long term damage to the market, like generational level long term, because entire generations are starting to come through unable to afford a house because those guys with 10 have driven the housing market through the roof artificially because of poor tax laws on properly values in most countries.

Plex declining in volume suggests that there may be a supply choke, and people are slowly & grudgingly accepting the increase in price and buying anyway, but that people are falling off the bottom of the market. However we do know that plex speculation drives a lot of price increase also since they released figures saying the average plex is traded through 2 or 3 extra pairs of hands before it finally reaches someone who actually uses it.

More sensibly you would start subbing your alts for cash and stockpile your PLEX for sale at a profit later. You would end up with more ISK that way then going out and paying cash for PLEX.
