So basically you have no reason other than it uses missiles to suggest it would be a better Golem despite its missile side being in every way worse than the Golem missile abilities?

Blitzing in a Marauder is not blitzing.

MTU+salvage drones instead of Tractors + salvagers(?) is a bad trade.


Use a Marauder when u want to clear and scoop the valuable loot/salvage and use something else for blitzing


MTU and 2 bonused tractors + salvage drones and a salvager in high is a better option than either thing you just listed though. Bonus points if you kill enough frigs on approach that you don't even need to have combat drones out for more than like 15 seconds.

It's extremely rare for me to ever have drones other than 5 salvage drones out on my Vargur in ANY mission at any point in time. There is a few isolated missions that drop me on top of the gate with frigs at 0 and it's not time efficient to MJD away to kill them and MJD back. Thats the only time I use combat drones on a marauder.

Also spider drones, though it's actually rare that even those needs to be killed at all to complete a mission.

Same here... I have them for the just in case moment when all else fails. Of course this isn't exclusive to Marauders. I don't use them on my Navy Raven either. With the new drone aggro system I found it's easier to stick two target painters on a frigate than dealing with drone aggro. NPC's don't even have a pretend targeting delay... They shoot your drones soon as you launch them so it's just not worth it for me.

The only time I use drones on a mission is with my Dominix.

I am not suggesting it will be a better golem, i am questioning why the rattler is seen as a ~1700 dps drone boat, but just a ~1000 dps missile boat.
