Sexualized female characters isn't sexist!

liberal feminism is so embarrassing (liberal as opposed to radical, not as opposed to conservative). myopic quibbling over minor facets of female oppression that doesn't take into account that the sexualization of women is part of a larger system of gender hierarchy helps no one, and only obfuscates the ends that feminism is trying to achieve.

pointing out that women are disproportionately depicted as sexual objects in media is a way to illustrate a way in which women are subjected in society, but it's hardly an issue that demands so much energy and attention from people that call themselves feminists when they could be fighting for much more important things.

but while we're on the topic, i might as well point out that most depictions of "sexualized" men in male-oriented media is meant to depict a power fantasy, not a sexual one. duke nukem is designed to be someone you want to be, not sleep with. the metal gear franchise serves as a better example of men as sexual objects, since the creator straight-up said that the reason that snake has such a banging' bod is to make the the fact that the camera is usually positioned behind him more exciting B)

i can understand where some guys are coming from when they talk about humanism, but it's a reactionary and fundamentally useless philosophy that is based on very limited cultural views and doesn't actually get stuff done

At present clothing is gender specific and only 2 genders exist in the game...

This is stupid.

It is difficult to construct a sex model (base design of a character of a particular sex). Your character can be any gender you want, but to save development resources they only built two sexes. After all, at least 99% of humans are completely male or female (whether they feel that way inside or not), and the remaining less than 1% are almost always able to pass as one or the other.

I feel like what you can do with the character generator is sufficient, though it would be nice if they boosted the plasticity a bit. Sometimes people of the same race and sex start to all look alike--but then again sometimes that is a lack of designing by the player and not a lack of options to work with.

Play around a bit and see what you can come up with. I think you can make someone who isn't quite male or female.

i'm 1000% in favor of making the all the clothing available to both sexes

as for the binary gender thing, reaver pretty much hit the nail on the head. humans operate on a binary sex model, and even many intersex individuals look binary enough to pass for one gender or the other (and since character creation lets you tweak hip/shoulder/chest proportions and leaves the state of the character's genitals ambiguous, you can build an intersex-looking character that way, even if the current systems don't allow female-sexed characters to have facial hair :/)

but the game doesn't really enforce "gender" on your character; it's totally possible to start from, say, a female sex base, work it a lil, and then note in the character's bio "btw this is a guy/agender/androgyne".

Most such complaints come from over active nanny state do-gooders. When they aren't whining about overly buxom cartoons, they whine about the name of sports teams or attempt to sew the seeds of racial, ethnic and religious animosity.

All such activity, and the ignorant clowns that listen to such trash, are there to distract you from what matters.

You're very hawt. Long hair is pretty great but short hair has its uses too. Still, your impressive locks are one of your biggest advantages over Boy Kate in the looks department. You should flaunt them more.

Give it time. It takes a while to grow back the impressive mat that I had before.

Hmmm. Well lets cut the fat off this topic and get to the meat. Men like seeing women in a provicative manner. We are all sexual beings. Now, we can take the long road of, "Well CCP makes the characters look sexy to keep them boys/ girls playing" or something nice to stare at. I take the approach of "It is an ability to make ourselves a "better" clone of who we really are in RL, now of course thats not in every case. CCP provides the tools to have huge boobs and butts and all the clothing to make it all pop. However this is all our decision really. You click that mouse and make it what you want it to be. Not them.

It's all bull S, in the end it doesn't matter.
