Back in the day you used to get skill benefits/differences out of creating characters of a particular race etc.

That still the case or is it all generic now?

I heard a rumor that Achura women are the hottest. Other than that, pick based on which starter ship you like the best.

i heard they got rid of it because the race with the best pvp characteristics was caldari, and because of that, a huge proportion of people chose caldari

Actually, Caldari had the best stats in pre-remap days. Max Charisma if you wanted to make a booster or completely balanced with charisma 3 if you didn't.

Basically:

For male character:

Minmatar if you want to look dangeous;
Amarr if you want to look psychotic;
Caldari if you want to look normal carebear; and
Gallente if you don't give a **** of what will other ppl think.

For female character:

Doesn't matter the race, just make sure you do a great job on the right stuff and don't forget to show it on the portrait. Light and apparels make wonders (like in RL, BTW).

For females, the easiest to make look attractive are ... of course ... Caldari.
Achura are considered to be the most attractive, by the vast majority.
Caldari are the easy-mode race, no matter what. Really.

1. Achura

A proper portrait adds a lot of depth, value, and possibilities to the game. I see that the OP is doing it partly right.
