This question is a little bit mission, little bit skill, little bit ship, but I think that it mostly has to do with ships, so I picked here.

Anyway, I recently picked this guy up, as it was a bargain basement price on him, and have been running SoE missions to get him into L4s. I will be done in about an hour, but looking over the skills leaves me a bit curios... Again, I didnt skill this guy, and yes, it seems to be a bit all over the place.

Basically, the armor skills are crap, yet the gunnery skills leans toward Gallente. On top of that, there is no Gallente battleship. (makes me wonder what the large hybrids were for...) On top of that, the drone skills are not exactly stellar.

The shield skills are a bit better, and it has Caldari Battleship at 5. However, the missile skills arent great, and it has no cruise missile at all. It does have torps, but not mauraders for a Golem.

The character also has Amarr battleship at 4, which matches up well for a Nightmare, and the more robust shield skills makes me think that this was the way the guy was heading, but he never got around to working on the large energy turrets, meaning that is pretty much off the table as well...

So... Any suggestions on what I CAN pull off in short order for L4s? I just know someone is going to say to use a BC, but good god do L4s suck in a BC... It seems like the previous owner half assed it for multiple things, but never finished one.

train large lasers and go nightmare. you can use faction tachs while training large energy turret V (and maybe even afterwards, depending on taste).

also, this seems to be a reasonably good char for running FW missions in a purifier.

I should buy an Ishtar.

This looks like a good Rokh pilot, though they're not stellar for running missions.

Train capacitor skills ASAP because those will help with everything you fly. I like the Nightmare idea but Amarr lasers are cap hungry so work on capacitor skills first.

I plan to run my missions out of a 0.5 system, and can already hear the hands rubbing together as the gankers see a Nightmare in faction tachs. But I will see about it.. Thanks.

In Amarr space you'll be fine with faction tachs. In a SOE system you will get ganked. Only use T2 or meta 4. I use T2 tachs because they do more DPS than faction

If you seek some good information about pve mission, may I point you to this site:

EVE Info, browse ingame or out of game, I like it and they even give you good advise on what you might need to fit for the jobs you may face.

I'm surprised noone pointed it out to you:
IMO the skillset of that guy points clearly towards a life in Wspace.

Scanning, some jack-of-all-trades including PI, Talos, Rokh, Stealth Bomber.

I'm mostly flabbergasted by the skilling of carrier drone modules before carrier skills, but then that's only few SP, so maybe it just seemed opportune at some point :).
