Lock a pinned window

Why is this feature removed from the game?

What is the point to pinning a window at all if not to lock it?

Please ALLOW us to lock a pinned window once again.

The more choices you remove from the players hands the more unhappy people you will have CCP.

Stop assuming decisions for us or players might decide to do something else with their time.

I was disappointed to see a whole stack UI fixes to problems that i wasnt even aware of, and no fix for this.

The fundamental problem of windows jumping around the screen as if possessed by demons and not being able to lock down pinned windows is a great aggravation to me.

They're working on it.

In an oblique way, that's why it's gone: pinning has always been associated with a whole bunch of UI quirks and issues, and it was recently connected to one of those jumping-around-seemingly-at-random errors. So they nuked the whole thing so they could start over from the beginning and hopefully give us actual pinning without all the funny stuff caused by the old implementation.

Any word on how soon? There have been a few patches so far, and window functionality seems like an important interface issue. Sad

Seems to me like the moving window problem has nothing to do with window pinning and everything to do with the window snap feature... yet it remains in the game. Perhaps intuition such as this is the reason why so many bugs remain for so long.

I don't how EVE is programmed, but that seems like a legitimate guess to me.

Is there a feature request thread?

I obviously don't have access to CCP's code, but pinning a window would definitely have a correlation with windows "jumping around". Both the pinning code and the jumping bug deal with a window's position on-screen. I imagine that window snap + pinning + conflicts between the two were causing the jumping.

So, in CCP's mind, it might have been easier to remove pinning and reprogram it entirely, rather than attempt to fix position conflicts with window snap. And who knows, snap might also have to be rewritten, but not having snap would be far more odious than the current removal of pinning.

Leaves only the fresh scent of pine.

Yes. This is the reason they said they removed it because their data showed that nobody uses window pinning and then changed the tooltip for it. All along they were secretly planning to redo window pinning without telling anyone.

Sneaky CCP.

Once again, you are highlighting a problem that i never had lol.

In 1 2 hour sitting EVERY single window/stack on my screen has jumped from its place to my mouse pointer for no apparent reason and has required me to drag it back. Not today but twice since patch entire stacks have disappeared from my UI only to return randomly.

So in actual fact removing the pinning functionality didnt fix anything did it?

They should have worked out a fix to these alleged issues before nuking the one feature of the overview that was perfectly effective at suppressing this crazy window behaviour.

Im sure you will disagree lol.
