OTOH, Player B that buys a PLEX for 20$, puts it on the market, and is bought for 1 Bil ISK by player C to convert to gold ammo, instead of being bought by player D for 500 Mil ISK to sub his account, is probably bad for the game.

Why this would be bad for the game? CCP got 20 bucks, what happens next is just pixels. You have player D (maybe) dropping his sub but you also have people like me: my 3 accounts are paid with RL money and I buy PLEX in bulks of 28+ units especially when season sales are announced. And what do I do with it? Hoard, sell for ISK, fund second skill queue for an alt, maybe organize some content with PLEX as reward or sth. OTOH played D can be excellent FC able to ignite blood thirst in thousands of players and put half of universe on fire. Or dominate market or change meta or sth?

Hard to exactly calculate which one of us - player D or me - is more valuable for the game. All CCP can really calculate is their bank account balance, rest is a subject to projections and analysis far more complicated than I and probably most of players are even able to comprehend.

And now, SQUIRREL!

Edit: grammar iz hard, mmmkey...

Sure, that's the hard thing I was referring to in the second part of my post.

My point was specifically about vanity items such as the infamous 'gold ammo'. I think it's safe to assume that having 2,000 subs is almost certainly better than having just 1,000 subs, but shooting gold ammo at eachother. Lol Assuming that (ultimately finite) PLEX supply would be at least partially diverted from subs to gold ammo.

Just to toss my hand into this blender for no good reason;

Gold ammo wouldnt be a vanity item

A monocle is a vanity item

My bad, I was assuming gold ammo would be just... glittery. Big smile

Yeah, higher DPS ammo for PLEX (which is in fact the more common meaning of 'gold ammo') would be so broken it shouldn't even be necessary to discuss it.

Well, if it influences gameplay it stops being vanity item :)

And I understood your point Gully, I just felt an urge to post something to seem relevant :)

Agreed, but there are those who wouldn't be able to work that out without help and a diagram :)

LMAO come to think of it, that's probaby the only reason why I ever post anything.

Except in GalMil circle-jerk threads in W&T, where as a GalMil pilot I believe it's my duty to contribute to the circle.

Tippia is definitely right in this particular discussion, I'm just making fun of the way he does it. Makes it very difficult to argue against when half of what you say is dismissed based on a "fallacy", without ever saying why to back up that assertion.

By the way, I ♥ Tippia.

These words, what do they mean? For they have never been uttered on this forum before!

More seriously though, this is all that matters. Personally I don't care one bit about how someone says something as long as what they say is the truth. If you do care, you're probably too sensitive for the internets.

It's actually fairly easy: just don't rely on fallacies to carry your (lack of) argument.

It's also fairly easy to see when and why I employ those labels: it's usually in response to some claim made about me or about what I have said that does not correspond to anything I say or do. I generally try to ask where people got their absurd notions from, but since so few ever responds or provides any examples, I quickly stop giving them that out and just call them on their BS without further ado.

That's the beauty of it: my assertions are backed up by what other people say (or fail to say), so there's not much more for me to do.

and often times, the bruised ego/s carry on into a thoroughly entertaining (and futile) spiral of ever-increasing reliance of fallacies and insults.

You can't beat Tippia, but you can distract him if you know his weak spots.

This is the one I've discovered. Post a couple of good (or even not-so-good) variations on this meme and he'll soften up.

By the way, I ♥ Tippia.

He can't back it up because he is just pulling terminology's off Google and without fully understanding how to apply them, while make attempts at using them. Now given his general audience EVE players he could have very well just replied solely with " EVE is good" "internet space ships pew pew" and "CCP, ISD , CSM" and everyone would cheer in an uproar.

It is kind of like when someone will use controversial terms to reach their target audience. I will give Tippia credit for knowing his audience well enough to use this tactic. How ever even though most of you agree with him here it does not make him right.
seeing as we only have about 200 replies to these post and maybe 100 unique posters the sample size is to small and he has proven nothing.

You guys agreeing with him here out of the 500,000 EVE accounts while i am sure boost his ego, it means absolutely zero. As you guys make up to small of a sample size to make a difference.

And I think it's funny he still uses straw man out of context and when I have shown him why he uses it out of context he calls that a straw man. but the above quote even though you tend to agree with tippia is a pretty accurate demonstration as to how he conducts a debate.

It is a tactic that will continue to work as long as he stays around his target audience. That of course being you guys who love and support eve and ccp. out side of these forums he would have been laughed at and booed off stage.
Either way he is still wrong and 100 people agreeing with him does not make him right.

But it was a good laugh at anyrate.

So would you put up a poll that includes the opinions of people who dont run their accounts with PLEX but use them in other ways?

Seems to me that our opinion on the price of PLEX and how it applies to subscription numbers should also count.
