What happened to 'Below The Asteroids'?

I too miss the jukebox. My favourites were always Opinions of the Misinformed and the awesome Akat Mountains.

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

Those weren't even in the jukebox, but good songs nonetheless.

The jukebox has migrated to your operating system and is now controlled via the Media Keys of your keyboard. Of course in doing so we lost the nifty feature of having the "deadspace tracks" start playing when you activate an acceleration gate, but that's only of interest to PvE players.

  1. Download the soundtrack from here: https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/sets/eve-online-in-game-tracks
  2. Load the music into your music player
  3. You can now use the "jukebox" using the media keys on your keyboard

All the tracks are there, and a few extras.

(never forgetting that the most valuable sound file in the whole game is Aura, "HA HA HA HA! You clumsy pilot!")

But they aren't in the correct order.

I can't start my day without my Miner Stories coffee. Cry

Well, that's where you learn to build a play list and edit it so the songs are in the right order. Then you'll be the smartest kid in TEST Twisted

I miss it too. There are other songs I haven't heard on some time (I'm aware some have been moved to lowsec).

But my most favourite, beautiful song in EVE is the Apocrypha theme. That was the first EVE song I ever heard, back when I first discovered the game and got my first trial account. It always makes me shiver on the inside and almost drop a tear, so beautiful and space-y it sounds.

You overestimate the attention span of a TESTie. That's a lot of work. Much easier to mope on the forums. I mean even if I had the desire to put so much....oh look, a shiny object....

There is also an active torrent on TPB with about 100 eve songs, both the action songs and from the jukebox. The action songs aren't available on the CCP soundcloud afaik.

I kinda like the drone tracks for null or whatever, reminds me of Fallout 1. I never really understood the appeal of Below The Asteroids, but I suppose it is sort of iconic EVE. My favorite songy-song has always been Gallentean Refuge though. https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/eve-online-gallentean-refuge

But I never have the music on. Would rather blast Darkthrone or something.

All are still there. "Miner Stories" one of my favorites, I keep a link to the original soundtrack in my bio so new players can know the excellence.

Getting rid of the eve juke box was the best idea ever!

Lol just kidding its the stupid ******* move ever, no reason for it.

Nullsec ambient music is sooooo nice, I totally don't get bored anymore that I am right now.
Have you heard the wormhole space music, man it just makes me excited and not yawn my self to logging out.

Oh my, my sides hurt now! LolLolLol

Q: Should we be worried? A: Nope. (...) Worry a lot if Fozzie, Masterplan, Rise, Veritas, Bettik, Ytterbium, Scarpia, Arrow, or even Greyscale leaves. Worry a little if Punkturis, karkur, SoniClover, Affinity, Goliath, or Xhagen leaves.

I think the solution is simple here.

CCP has recently made the ingame audio a lot more customizable. In addition to these changes, why not bring back the Jukebox with an additional option like "Automatically Changing Music Depending On The Location" feature? In other words, players should have the freedom of choice between 2 options: manually using Jukebox or switching to the auto mode. This way, both sides will be happy: jukebox fans and the autochanging music fans.

I don't really dislike the current system. In lowsec space for example, it's a lot more appropriate to hear the spooky, deep 'Pirates Den', 'Hidden mementos' etc. compared to the cheerful 'Safe Trade Routes' etc.

However, lots of players want the jukebox back, and this has to be respected.

Be the change you want to see in Highsec.

I reactivated my account again after a long time and since I've been playing I've not heard my favourite EVE tune 'Below The Asteroids': https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/eve-online-below-the-asteroids

Is it still in the game? I notice the jukebox has gone so maybe they removed some music too?

Yes, one of those much anticipated "game improvements" involved removing the Juke Box... we've been bitching for it's return for years. As you can see... nobody is listening...or they were fired.

Roll

I asked and reason is because some dev loves this idea of "situational music" so much that they don't want some crude ol' juke box interfering with their "master plan that will rock your world" (tm).

Devs should not be trusted with game development Straight

Here, lets cut a deal with CCP. They can burn the dev time needed to replace the jukebox properly, with good, integrated code and all.

We won't complain about them "wasting dev hours" when (insert chosen EVE complaint) doesn't get finished.

I'll take CCPs word for it on this one. If the jukebox was raggy trouble code, it needed to be nuked. They're the only ones who could really decide that, so...so be it.

It's not 2000 anymore, I have at least 3 different ways to play music sitting within arms reach of me right now.
