Player Features and Ideas Discussion

Probably wouldn't be viable in the near future, but wouldn't it be awesome to be able to upload a CAD model of a ship, customize its hull color, slot layout, CPU, PG, and bonuses. After designing you get a single run BPC of this for a hefty price (To keep T3's useful and cheaper) with a variable price depending on its attributes to keep it from being too OP.

Any other added ideas or would this become too OP, but it does go along with the 'Players taking power from CCP' theme.

Funfact: non modelers suck at modeling and modelers tend to suck at texture work.
Also, bumpmaps are hard.

that is what the design-a-ship contest was for, but that ended years ago.

if you can get enough support you might be able to make CCP run that contest again

Nice thought. And then the thought of Minmatar Phallus-rockets and Gallente Boob-Boats stomps all over it.

A lot of attributes aren't combined on the same hull for balance reasons, so in the end we'd end up with a whole lot of the same of what we already have, with some tweaks for personal flavor. Not exciting.

I like the idea of player created content and the players being able to earn money from that content. This is ultimately what would end up happening if this idea came to fruition. Ship designers would be able to auction off unique ship designs or take jobs on request, and charge ISK or PLEX. That's fine. But then once the word gets out every part time video game modeler jumps on the bandwagon, and it goes from being novel to taking 2 minutes for my screen to load when I undock in Jita.
