I've googled this but mostly what i see is either old or has no real suggestions.

I really just want to make a few ships, and go get blown up, but hopefully i can set my skills for a specific type of frigit and a suggested fit?

Id appreciate any and all suggestions. thanks in advance.

In order to best be able to help you, we'll some more information.

Will you be flying in RVB, EveU, BN or perhaps in Factional Warfare, perhaps as some alliances' newbro or something else entirely? The setting makes a big difference. Where will you be fighting?

What races' ships can you already fly or do you prefer? All races have good pvp frigates.

There is no 'single best' ship or fit in eve and even the greatest pilot with the most expensive ship will loose to a counter. As an example see http://themittani.com/news/100b-isk-chremoas-destroyed-budget-atrons or http://themittani.com/features/life-and-death-first-chremoas

How many SP do you have? 500000, 1 milion, 5 milion?

Is there a particular style you'ld like to fly? There are many ways to destroy another ship in eve and maybe you'ld like to try a specific one first?

Well thanks!

I'm guessing my primary use will be FW in the short term, hopefully nul sec asap. My thinking is more for pure pvp and the ratting can just be a secondary concern as my income seems like it will be coming from playing the market and my main focus will be pvp.

The cost of the ship isnt a big deal within reason, i bought a timecode and sold the cerebral thing for 260 million and then have since made some more money with that first 260.

I'm caldari right now but I dont mind spending a day or so training a different faction, just whatever is better is fine.

I'm currently without a corp but im hoping to join one soon. I have 250,000 sp.

Most of my SP is in caldari / missles / hybrid turrets atm.

Very important in EVE are support skills, but you're better of asking about that in the right subforum.

As you've said yourself, Caldari uses either hybrid weapons or missiles. Choose one of the two and focus on that until you can use T2 weapons, they you could try the other. IMO missiles are less skill intensive compared to hybrids for beginners (no cap needed and no tracking issues)

In terms of Caldari frigates:
- the Condor is fast missile ship. Very fragile but you can stay out of others people range. You can kite at 10k or at 20k but it requires different fits
- the Kestrel is a missile ship with more defenses. You can also kite but you're not at fast as the Condor. Alternatively, you can go in close.
- the Merlin is a hybrid ship. Arguably one of the best frigates. It can kite, it can brawl. It can go all out on damage or tank like a mofo.

Here's some fits to get you started, they all have different play styles and it will take a while to learn everything about PvP, but frigate FW is a great place to start.

[Merlin, PvP AB]

Damage Control II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

1MN Afterburner II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Medium Shield Extender II

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I

In your face brawler with high dps, use keep at range 1km, overheat everything and hope you kill your opponent before you die. Avoid fighting enemies which will try to kite you (Slicers, Condors, Firetails). Your ideal situation is sitting at 0 on the beacon inside a plex and having an enemy come right on top of you.
[Kestrel, PvP MWD]

Damage Control II
Ballistic Control System II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction

Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Inferno Rocket
Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Inferno Rocket

Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I

This one isn't really an in your face brawler, the MWD allows you to catch enemies that try to kite you using the 'slingshot' technique which is an important maneuver to learn (there is a good guide for it on the EveIsEasy channel on YouTube. Generally it has good all round stats, but you will lose to dedicated brawlers like the Merlin fit above, but your engagement profile is slightly bigger.

[Condor, PvP]

Ballistic Control System II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II
Phased Muon Sensor Disruptor I, Targeting Range Dampening Script
Phased Muon Sensor Disruptor I, Targeting Range Dampening Script

Light Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Light Missile
Light Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Light Missile
Light Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Light Missile
[Empty High slot]

Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Bay Loading Accelerator I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Finally the good ol damp kite Condor, one of the most annoying ships. This is a kiting ship, your whole fit revolves around keeping the enemy at 20+km while wearing them down with your long range missiles and damping their targeting range so they can't hit you back and so it's harder for them to catch you. If you let someone get within 10km of you and they scramble you (which will turn off your MWD), you're pretty much dead. Kiting ships are the hardest to fly IMO but they have a very large engagement profile because if you think you're losing, you can just warp out.

My final advice is to joint a goof FW corp to show you the ropes, having friends to show you the way is the best way to learn.

FW is in a meta shift right now. Get in a gang and fly some kitey stuff or dual prop stuff.

Listen child, oh have no fear
The end is coming, the Worm is near..

Aand then I lost my thought.

Anyhow, all the frigates have been put in a good place not too long ago as far as I have heard and I suggest you try them and see what you like.

Some are better at brawling, some better at kiting and as soon as you find one you like, play with piloting styles and fittings.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!
